When it works it’s awesome; however I cannot get it to stay connected to my internet. I even purchased a network extender and it still has not helped. I have many other connected appliances and gadgets and this the only one that I have difficulty with

Hello catherinek9154,

It is important to us that you are able to count on your Ring Video Doorbell to stay connected to the internet. This device was intended to remain online throughout the day for uninterrupted home security. Most wifi disconnects can be traced back to some sort of wifi or router issue. Our team is happy to help find a solution

To determine whether the problem is caused by poor upload speed, run a speed test to determine if your network can support Ring devices. You can use the Device Health section of the Ring app to test your wifi.

- Launch the Ring app and open the menu in the upper left-hand corner.
- Tap on Devices and select your Ring Video Doorbell.
- Select the Device Health menu tile.
- Tap on Test Your Wifi.

The Device Health section also shows your doorbells RSSI reading and Network Name. The recommended range for optimal performance is 0 to -60 for the RSSI. If you have a network extender, please ensure the Network Name lists that extender as the wifi signal in use. Otherwise, you can use the Change Wifi Network option to make the proper switch.

This product was a great buy. I installed this because I get a lot of door knockers. I wanted to know who was at my door. I have a little peace of mind when my doorbell rings and I’m able to answer it on my phone even when I’m in Jamaica and can act like I’m home.

I love this product. There is a guided installation and set up that makes set up so easy. The only bad thing I can say is sometimes the picture is a little grainy depending on your WiFi strength. Going to buy another one!

I have the ring video doorbell 1, I know for sure the ring doorbell 2 is a better version. I don’t like the paid video monitoring subscription. If the ring doesn’t pick up the motion alert it won’t record for you to view. You can only view a history of what the device picks up as motion, not a 24 hour loop that you can go back and view like other camera monitoring systems. By the time the app loads and I am able to view the person ringing the doorbell, they are usually already walking away. If you live in an area where your house is closer to the street/smaller backyard, even with the different sensing area settings, the device still picks up every car in the street as motion.

Hello kmevers1515,

We understand how important it is to fully understand a products capabilities and features prior to making a purchase. The Ring Video Doorbell (2020 Release) is intended to help keep you in the loop while you are away from home. By using one, you can expect accurate motion detection, timely Ring notifications and the ability to see, hear, and speak with your visitors. Our team is here to help.

While subscribed to one of our optional Ring Protect Plans, you will be able to access videos from every ring, motion, and live view event for up to 60 days (US). You can also access, download, and share past Ring videos. Without this service, you will still receive real-time video alerts on your smartphone as well as have access to the Live View feature. Additional information about the optional Ring Protect Plan can be found on our support website, here: https://ring.com/protect-plans.

If your device is picking up passing traffic, try out our new Customizable Motion Zones to eliminate motion detection in areas you do not want monitored.

- Tap the three lines on the top left of the screen.
- Tap Devices.
- Select your Ring Video Doorbell.
- Select Motion Settings.
- Then tap Motion Zones.
- Tap Customize Motion Zones and then Continue.
- Use the slider to adjust motion sensitivity from minimum to maximum sensitivity.

Once you’ve drawn your Motion Zones and adjusted the motion sensitivity slider, the changes will take effect the next time the device detects motion.

Although your Ring Doorbell will not function as a CCTV system, you can use the Snapshot Capture feature to help. This is app feature that takes snapshots at certain intervals. This allows you to review what’s happened in front of your devices in between events.

We would love to know if this resolves your concern, and ask that you share your experience with us on our Ring Community forum, here: https://community.ring.com/.

I am giving this 3 stars because I just purchased it today.  I had a bit of trouble connecting to the wifi and the battery is taking a while to charge.  I will go in and change my review after I have had the chance to use it for a bit.  My review right now is based on setup only and not functionality.

Hello johnnad2,

Thank you for taking the time to post your review. We appreciate the value that you've placed in home security through Ring, and we are here to help you get the most out of your Ring device.

Ring batteries ship with a partial charge, and will need to be manually charged until the LED lights on the device turn a solid green. Depending on the current charge, this can take up to 10 hours.

If you encounter issues with the device's initial set-up, please double-check that your wifi password was typed in correctly. You can also ensure that you're connecting to the correct wifi network. The Ring Video Doorbell (2020 Release) is only compatible with 2.4GHz wifi networks.

As a reference, we've linked an article below that helps guide you through failed set up attempts:

Please visit our community forum at https://community.ring.com/ for some additional tips and support. We look forward to hearing from you.
