Found out it is the blades.

I bought this and also some IRWIN replacement blades. I read the reviews and found out I was having the same problems most people were having.....keeping the blade in, the button not working. blade not retracting. Come to find out, the blades that come with the knife are slightly smaller than what they need to be. I took the knife completely apart and reassembled before I decided to try the IRWIN blades. They fit like a glove with no movement whatsoever. Here are some photos with the IRWIN blades behind the DeWalt blades that came with the knife. You can clearly see the difference in the size when flush at the bottom, top and right side of the blades. Hopefully this will help more consumers. DeWalt has better quality than this so this is an epic fail on their part.

Unusable out of the wrapper

Upon attempting to insert the very first blade, the "rapid change" button failed and is now lodged inside the housing. Unable to install a blade for operation.

Blade change

I really wanted to like this knife. I really did. I think the design looks sleek and cool. However, like everyone else, I couldn't get a blade loaded in the chamber. The last knife I had had a latch where you could open it up and change the blade. It was simple and I could see where you had to place the blade. No such thing here since it goes in through the blade opening, so you can't see where the rivets on the back of the blade go. I'm well aware there are YT videos showing how to load a blade in this thing, but that just shows the lack of proper instructions and/or just bad design.
Unfortunately I gotta return it for something else.

Shattered into three pieces

This utility knife (box cutter) slipped from my hand and shattered into three pieces when it hit the floor. The black part of the handle broke off, and the little knob that extends or retracts the blade broke off. What happened to DeWalt's legendary toughness? I would only recommend this knife to people I don't like.

Changing is imposible

I bought it and lose my money, it was impossible to change the blade, even I saw videos but it simply doesn't work for the change of blade.

A bad design, executed poorly.

The knife's components did not quite fit. Blade would not seat. Button was immobile when slider was forward. Folding retainer very difficult to disengage when trying to fold knife. It does look cool, though.
