Disappointing

I just got mine and it runs very hot, freezes my explorer, disconnects repeatedly, and the transfer speed from a type-c has not gone above 350mb/s. If I weren't in a remote location for work, I'd send it back. For what I paid, I am not happy. And I am very worried about losing my files! Having to plug it in is an extra inconvenience, especially with a SSD. And if it can't stay on my desk and stay connected, then I just don't know what I can do with it. When it disconnects, I can't just unplug the type-C. That does nothing. I have to unplug and replug the power of the device.
I am incredibly disappointed. I own a lot of SanDisk drives and I don't know if I'll buy another.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I edit video and was looking for a large drive for Time Machine backups + a project archive and this is perfect. I couldn't stand the sound of a spinning hard drive in my bedroom where my computer is, so when I found this new larger capacity SSD I was excited. I do wish it stayed cooler, but I read it's normal for it to remain hot.

Great idea reliable brand but falls short

Great idea for a product WD is very reliable. It also appears to be a great price point for the SSD capacity. BUT falls short overall. I see a great opportunity here for WD on the next generation of this drive. This drive should have had the option to be connected to your network via Ethernet or Wi-Fi. In todays age most people now have high speed internet service in their homes with advanced routers. Most of the current providers provide you with gigabit routers that also have (1) 2.5 GB Ethernet port on them and they have Wi-Fi 6E speeds of up to 5.4 Gbps – twice as fast as Wi-Fi 6 , and Wi-Fi6E also supports 6GHz bandwidth. This product would be better if it was a WD MyCloud capable drive. Quality: 5 Stars - WD is the best in the storage business I would never trust my files to any other brand. Value: 4 Stars - The value of this drive is good for SSD capacity but I take 1 Star away because it is only a plug in drive and not network or cloud capable. Ease of Use: 4 Stars - For the same reasons I gave 4 on Value. Performance: 4 Stars - Performance should be great for an SSD plugged into a USB-C port but as with the others loses 1 star due to its lack of network options. I feel this will be a GREATER product if it was designed to include the functionality of the WD MyCloud line of storage products.

Fast and quiet

It has some weight to it. Think like a paper weight. The while thing can fit in my hand.
It comes with a usb-c cable and a stand usb adapter if you need it. It has to be plugged in to a wall outlet so might not be good from travel or on the go.

No lights to indicate if it’s on or not, but it’s very quiet. I don’t hear any noise coming from it.
Connects to a computer or an iPad.
I transferred a 44mb file on to the sandisk and it was instantaneous. The file opens immediately.
I moved a 426 mb folder with 591 files took just 35 seconds to transfer. Files loaded instantaneously.

Desk Drive is easy to attach and holds all of my photos, files, etc. Desk Drive has enough storage for a bunch of stuff. I do recommend this product.
