OK but not great for under-counter mounting
on October 3, 2013

This product may do well for wall mounting but the joints seem a little weak for under-counter mounting. I placed the Mount-it in the kitchen to hold an Ipad 2, mounted under the upper cabinets. Even the light weight of the Ipad requires repeated retightening of the joints to hold it constant and steady. It's ok for now (mounted one week), but I am afraid, over time, the joints may not hold. The sections of the arms are metal but the joints are plastic. Not what I expected.

I installed this on the wall near my bed.

So I can just lay down straight and have my iPad straight in my face and watch movie and read stuff, use to be sitting on my bed holding my iPad which gave me a little bit of back pain for not sitting straight, now watch netflix and not bother somebody just use an earphone, read stuff while laying straight neck supported by a pillow, back pain gone and no more stiff neck the next day hehe.Best thing about this thing is you can manipulate it at any possible angle you can imagine, you can even make your iPad look like a digital photo frame and have something doing a slide show. I got the exact thing on the photo with the orange thing, some other buyer got a plain black, I guess mine looks more expensive than the plain black. good item

We're using it in the kitchen with an iPad so that we can watch videos while cooking. Works great, sturdy enough for the job, great value.

Works well as designed

I bought not knowing how well it was going to work, since I wanted to mount it onto a treadmill so I can watch while running and it turns out it works great. Firm grip of the iPad with little movement. No problem tightening it to the position that I wanted. You can slightly move the orange stoppers opposite the screws to really crank it tight,

Perfect for iPad 1 in Kitchen!

What a great mount that doesn't cost an arm and leg to afford! I installed it under my kitchen cabinets for my original iPad. The arm of this mount is sturdy and so far after several months the ball joint swivel\\tilt portion is holding strong and I have to move the ipad often as the only place to mount it was close to the sink and I don't want to splash my iPad with dishwater. I'm very pleased with this mount. No idea why the item title says its for 7 to 10-inch TVs though.

Form is fine, materials lacking durability.

Three stars because its not a tota.l failure, and the price of the unit is minimal compared to many.Problems with the unit:The joints are not keyed, so the only thing that keeps them from moving is the compression induced friction of the bolts at each joint. Given an all metal unit, that might not have been a problem, but the bolt tighteners are plastic. After making occasional adjustments, maybe once a month, the bold handle for the base screw broke. It needs a lot of compression to hold that ipad still when its stretched out 2 feet. The ball/socket joint at the tablet cradle seems to work fine. the base rotation feels solid. If they would have added some splines to some of the joints, they would have vectored some of the force into the mechanism itself and bolt torque would not be the only thing holding your iPad up.Next version I guess...TL,DR: Having an iPad stand is great, but if durability is something you value, look elsewhere.

Works fairly well as an iPad holder

I purchased this wall mount to hold my iPad 2 in a workshop environment. For this purpose it works rather well.Overall the construction is solid. Though plastic, the mount maintains a sufficient rigidness. I was concerned when placing the order that using this stand for a touch device would cause the iPad to move too much while in use. I can say this is not the case. There are five articulating points on the mount -- four on the arm and a ball/socket type joint on the actual TV/iPad mount. The middle two joints use large wing nuts to tighten and are very easy to use. The joints that are closest to the mount point and the device itself use smaller knobs. Though not as easy to adjust I did not find them annoyingly difficult to tighten. In fact all four of these joints were easy enough to tighten and hold their positions well. The actual TV mount is attached to the articulating arm with a ball socket. These are all plastic parts as well. The socket has slots that enable the ball mount to hold the unit without rotating in four positions -- up, right, down, left. You can also choose to use ball mount so that it doesn't utilize these lots. This gives you 360 degree rotation capability of the device. The key point is that this final articulating location has a firm grip but it is not a fixed grip or position like the other joints. It seems reasonable that this joint would also become less grippy with a lot of use down the road. The actual clamps that hold the device have a few issues that prevent a five star review. First, the depth of the clamps are fixed so you cannot adjust them. They are approximately 3/4 of an inch deep. My iPad with its smart cover fits well inside these and even though there is extra space it seems to hold it well. You will not have luck attempting to hold anything that is thicker. The two lower arms are a fixed radius. They are hinged such that they will hold the same angle relative to another and that is a nice feature. You will not be able to adjust the distance from the center of the mount to the holders if you wish to hold something smaller or larger. This is definitely designed for devices in the iPad 2 size range. The corner clamps can adjust their angle only slightly to accommodate their position. Again, given the small size range this is designed for that isn't a big issue. The top clamp is adjustable in height. A lever is decently accessible behind the mount to lock down the position. Leaving it unlocked still holds an iPad well and makes it slightly easier to insert and remove the device. In general I like the mount and it certainly met my needs for holding an iPad in my workshop. Improvements I would like to see would be to have all articulating points be firmly lockable so an exact position can be maintained and adjustable depth on the three clamping points to better accommodate slimmer than 3/4\ devices."
