Product is defective and should be recalled

I bought a roll of this masking tape in 1.5 inch width from Office Depot in Prince Frederick, Maryland on June 20th of this year. The tape would not come off the roll without tearing down one side or another, giving only short pieces of triangular shaped tape. Then it was extremely difficult to get the tape started again after which it would promptly tear again. Thus the product was essentially useless and as far as I am concerned totally defective. Huge waste of money for what used to be a quality product. DO NOT BUY.

Disappointed in quality

I have been a solid fan of 3M and Scotch products for 45 years and am brand loyal some 98% when purchasing. Two recent purchases have disappointed: the decorative masking tape, and the traditional, off-white masking tape. The decorative masking tape was semi-sheer and didn't have the opacity to cover/conceal, say, a transition in color, nor any pattern present on the surface beneath it. The traditional masking tape seems thinner, too, and the quality is not nearly what it used to be. I handle and store my tapes kindly. A banged-up roll of masking tape is much more likely to tear or rip lengthwise. But my new, fresh, not dented roll of Scotch masking tape has been extremely prone to lengthwise, angled tear-offs--pretty much every time it is used. I expected better from Scotch/3M.

Masking tape is Horrible, it tears

Bought this tape last week and tried to use it today and can not get it off the roll no matter how easy and slowly I try, it just starts ripping/tearing from the get-go. I've had this happen to previous rolls and thought that maybe it was just old tape but it's the same with new tape. I don't know what you have changed but this tape isn't worth half the price it cost any more.

Not what it used to be, hard to use now

So many reviews saying the same thing. It's hard to get the tape off the roll. Why doesn't Scotch respond with replies of any substance? Just the copy and paste, "thank you, we're sorry, please call us..." Maybe it's time to start taking care of your customers, before they're gone.

I might understand the poor quality if made in a third world country...well I guess it is. I trashed the roll after the 15 th tear. No more SCOTCH tape for me.

Useless as tape. Useful as a paperweight

I bought this a month ago and I'm totally disappointed. It will not unroll without breaking off. It sticks to itself so hard it's almost impossible to unroll.
I tossed all 6 rolls in the trash it was so bad.
Not only would I not recommend this product to a friend, I would not recommend it to someone I dislike.

Product Labelling

I had for several years been using Scotch brand Blue tape for a specific project. I recognize the desired tape by yellow icons printed on blue: EdgeLock, 2093EL, and ScotchBlue. However, my most recent purchase had plastic covering over the surface of the tape that prevented me from discerning the desired product from labelled as "original." I mistakenly purchased the "original" and do not want to spend a great deal of my precious time testing to see if it works as well as the desired product. Since product reviews are not easily found, none were made.
