Modern look

Very easy to install and set up and looks great. I love being able to adjust the temperature from anywhere, especially the bed when I get either hot or cold. Only things I don't like is how you set schedules, it's a bar graph which is difficult to sett. I also don't like the home away since it's based on phone location and often my kids are at home when i'm not which it doesn't recognize that.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Fussy thermostat

Pretty sure my thermostat requires temperature calibration but installer says there is no such capability. Reads 4 - 6 degrees lower than previous thermostat and thermometers placed nearby. Learning capability is interesting but would rather rely on manual changes or pre-defined schedules for setbacks.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Thanks for letting us know about your experience with Nest Learning Thermostat. We understand that you’re having concerns about the temperature reading of your Nest thermostat and we’re here to help.
Different thermostats have different ways to measure temperature. Also, the location of the thermostat may impact the accurate temperature reading. Normally, a temperature difference of 1-2°F can be negligible, but if it is greater than that, then we need to look into it. Here are a couple troubleshooting steps to help with recalibrating the thermostat as well as making sure the thermostat is not impacted by external factors.
- Restart the thermostat by pressing the display until it shows a black screen and wait until it's back up and running. A restart should be sufficient to re-calibrate them and show an accurate value.
- Check if the Sunblock feature is on or off. Open Nest App > Select the thermostat > Tap Settings > Look for Nest Sense > Turn off/on Sunblock
- Nest Thermostats in the U.S. and Canada are typically installed on a wall. Check for proximity of the thermostat to: air vents / electrical outlets / appliances / plumbing (hot water pipes) / warm air in the wall behind the thermostat. This may also affect the reading for the temperature.
- Some wireless access points cause the Nest Learning Thermostat’s wifi chip to overheat, which affects the thermostat’s detected ambient temperature. We suggest disconnecting the network for 24 hours, and monitoring the temperature.
Another factor for the temperature difference may be the learning feature, Auto-Schedule. If the Auto-Schedule is turned on, your Nest Learning Thermostat will try to learn from your temperature preferences to create its own schedules and then turn on your HVAC to follow the schedules. To make sure this is not the case, you can go to the settings of your thermostat in the Nest app, find Auto-Schedule and turn it off.
We also suggest clearing all the existing schedules and re-create your preferred schedules so the thermostat will only follow your schedules. Here's how to clear the existing schedules: on your Nest thermostat, Settings > Reset > Schedule > Reset > Turn the ring to complete the reset.

Worth it!

In the first two months I owned the smart thermostat, I've saved the money I spent on it. Plus, I received incentives from the gas and power companies. It's so easy to use and looks great on the wall. The App makes it super easy to control and you can see how many hours you use.

I love this thermostat and is the easiest to manage of all temperatures in my life! I can control the temperature anywhere!!! I wish I have separate A/C Unit for upstairs so I can have 2nd thermostat. I like showing the thermostat off to guests.

Great improvement to my thermostat

I purchased this device as an upgrade to my current thermostat. It is a MAJOR upgrade and we are very happy with the results. It was a bit hard to install but that was not the fault of Nest as it was more transitioning my HVAC system to this Thermostat due to the requirement of a C-Line which my system was capable of doing but, the system was not ran with a C-Line when it was installed.
