Excellent thermostat

I replaced an existing smart thermostat with the Nest learning and am very pleased with it.
The setup was very easy once I contacted them via chat to confirm the wiring. The compatibility app said I needed a professional install because it was not sure about the auxiliary wiring. My system is all electric and the wiring was confirmed in about 5 minutes on chat.
Actual install took less than 15

Greats smarts, not accurate

The one thing a thermost needs to do really well this thermostat gets wrong. Consistently measures the temperature wrong by 2-3 degrees and from a quick internet search it's been that way for almost two years after the last software update and no software updates since. I can live with 2 degrees off, but please fix it.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hi there, thanks for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We're sorry to hear that your Nest Learning Thermostat is not giving accurate temperature readings. There can be several reasons why this may be happening.
A difference of a couple of degrees is acceptable as your benchmarking thermostat on Nest thermostat. But greater differences do need attention. Below are some steps that may help you with the issue:
- Restarting the thermostat by pressing the display until it shows a black screen and wait until it's back up and running. A restart should be sufficient to re-calibrate them and show an accurate value.
- Check if Sunblock feature is on or off. Open Nest App > Select the thermostat > Tap Settings > Look for Nest Sense > Turn off/on Sunblock
- Nest thermostats in the U.S. and Canada are typically installed on a wall. Check for proximity of the thermostat to: air vents / electrical outlets / appliances / plumbing (hot water pipes) / warm air in the wall behind the thermostat. This may also affect the reading for the temperature.
- Some wireless access points cause the Nest thermostat’s wifi chip to overheat, which affects the thermostat’s detected ambient temperature. We can disconnect the network for 24 hours and monitor the temperature.

Intuitive and Simple to use

I feared that the setup process and unit learning out routine would be cumbersome and take time to adjust, however it was quite the opposite. Installation and setup went smoothly, taking less than 10 minute followed by about 24 hours for the unit to adjust and record our routine for the average day. Within a week it has adjusted to our changes in routine from day to day. Very pleased.

Great for second home

Needed updated thermostats for a vacation home and was happy to discover that I could add one additional home to my existing Nest account. It was very easy to do - straight from the App. Now I can monitor the thermostats at both homes from wherever I am.

Nest thermostat

I needed a new thermostat for my heat pump as the old one stopped working. The A/C people recommended the Nest as a replacement. They came back the next day and installed it. I like it better than the old one but I am still learning how to use it. I especially like the way it learns you as well.

Ease of Leaving a Vacation Home

Nest thermostat is an efficient product. Happy I purchased for our vacation home. Can control from anywhere and set eco settings so the home stays cool or warm and within a comfortable range without using too much energy.
