Great!

Got this after turning in some hotel points and I love it. My old basic thermostat sucked as I'm usually not home and it was annoying having to remember to change settings. This was super easy to install and now I can make sure my home is optimal any time. Really looking forward to saving money.

Beautiful right out of the box, installation instructions were easy to follow and wifi connectivity was instant. Large lcd displays large beautiful fonts and is easy to navigate.
We love to be able to control it from our phones.
We are looking forward for the savings and head turning, also expanding smart technology throughout our home.

Just had this installed, not sure if it was worth the price, but so far I like it. I’m a snow bird and travel a lot, and I like the convenience of controlling the temperature from anywhere I may be.

I could not mess this up

I was given a Nest thermostat as a winter holiday gift. I thought it pretty neat, but was not overly excited to tear open the box and install it. After all, the thermostat in the house worked just fine and there is always a chance that I might mess up an attempted home repair. Finally in late February, on a Saturday when I had nothing else to do, I opened the box, read the instructions, became confused, but resolved to soldier on. I figured if I could get the device installed and it did not work I could always put the old thermostat back on. Needless to say, the thing practically installed itself and as we all know, it basically works itself. Even I could not mess it up.

I have the nest

Being a disabled person I was having difficulty changing the heat on my thermostat whenever the sun started going down. My son suggested I get the nest so that I could easily handle it from my smartphone. My son Installed for me and show me how to use it and I cannot at all look back. What a wonderful product. You would not regret changing your current thermostat with the nest. Enjoy

Two Nests One House

Bought a brand new 2-story home with generic thermostats. Very confusing and annoying to adjust. I'm so glad we replaced them with Nest. We have one upstairs and one downstairs, and they keep the house perfect temperature. Especially because we have a weird work-from-home schedule so Nest is easy to change from the app. I only wish the 2 thermostats would communicate with each other.

Perfect for me

Recently moved and one of my first priorities was getting this thermostat installed. Coming from first gen in the old house, I love the ability to add separate temp sensors to keep the temp what I want where I want. More options for the thermostat to display when you walk by is a great addition, too. I love being able to run just the fan on a schedule I set to even out temps in the house; a feature of the original that I had to retain. It's also just a sharp looking unit to have on the wall. It feels very well made like most other Google hardware I have. Even if you are all in on some other company's ecosystem, I would highly recommend giving this thermostat a try.

Missing features and major issue

I bought two Nest thermostats to run the two HVAC units I have in my home. I've found two issues and would buy a different brand if I had to do it over. First, the thermostats can't sync with each other so the I can have a master and a slave unit. If I want one to be certain temperature, I want them both to be the same. No way to do that. I will forever be adjusting both for double the work. Second, in South Texas, it can be 90 degrees during the day and 50 degrees that same night. I want the thermostats set to heat or cool to 72 degrees during the day and 69 degrees at night regardless of the temperature outside. Unfortunately, Google has a locked temperature range that will not allow this. In other words, if I set it to "Heat and Cool" mode, I have to set a range of 70 to 73. This means it's to hot at night and to hot during the day, but if I lower to be cool enough in the day it is way to cold at night. Will never buy again.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Nest thermostats in the same home don’t share temperature schedules. Each Nest thermostat learns a separate schedule for the zone or unit that it controls. For example, you can teach your thermostat downstairs to warm up the kitchen in time for breakfast, while the thermostat upstairs turns down for the day.
You can create or adjust the temperature schedule of your Google Nest thermostat the way you want in the app or directly on the thermostat. If you don’t want your Nest Learning Thermostat to make automatic adjustments to its temperature schedule as it learns what temperatures you like and when, turn off Auto-Schedule. Then, you can manually edit the existing schedule, or create an entirely new one. You can manually edit or create your thermostat’s schedule to change your home’s temperature at fixed times that you’ve set.
In the Nest app:
- Open the Nest app and select your Nest thermostat.
- Select Schedule Nest app schedule icon.
- Create or adjust temperature set points to your liking.
On your thermostat:
- Go to the schedule screen on your thermostat.
- Nest Learning Thermostat: On the Quick View menu, choose Schedule Nest thermostat schedule icon.
- Create or adjust temperature set points to your liking.
