Low Battery Issues

I’ve owned the Nest Learning Thermostat for around 4 years. No C-wire since the day I installed it. Suddenly 4 years later it will no longer maintain a charge. I have to take it off of the wall and charge it with a USB cable. So I go and buy another Nest Learning Thermostat thinking that would solve the problem. Nope. New unit also has a low battery warning. I called technical support and spent 45 minutes making no progress on the issue. Is it WiFi related? Did Google push a faulty software update? No idea. Nothing has changed on my end and now I own 2 Nest Learning Thermostats with the exact same low battery issue. So now I’m crawling around the basement trying to figure out if there is any way to run a C wire. Without that, the Nest Learning Thermostat will not communicate with the Nest app nor will the display work. Pretty strange that there were never any problems with the thermostat for 4 years. That’s my hint for the engineers and developers over at Google.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

If you can read you can work the thermostat and the phone app. Love the monthly usage updates. I like the learning part but wish you had the option to turn it off

I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to upgrade or buy a new thermostat. It's a whole new experience different from the programmable thermostats. I love the app that you can control the thermostat from your phone.

Not really digging it after a few weeks. I’ve turned off all of the learn features and it still won’t hold the temperature I choose. It’s 20 degrees outside and I work outside every day. Every time I come home from work it had dropped from the temperature I’ve selected about 15 degrees. When I pick a temp I want it there all the time… whether I’m home or not. I don’t care what my utilities cost. Ill flip that bill anytime. I’ve changed every setting… still does it. I miss my dumb thermostat. Can’t say I’d recommend this. I don’t want to walk into a cold house everyday unless it’s summertime. Wish it would just hold a temp, and not try and track my life habits and whereabouts. Two stars was me being generous. Half tempted to replace it.

Nest thermostat changes its temperature automatically due to some factors like schedule, learned habits (auto schedule), and Home/Away Assist which makes your thermostat go to ECO mode. You have an option to use it as a traditional programmable thermostat, and you can manually set the temperature and create your schedules for the thermostat to follow. Besides turning off the Auto Schedule feature, we also suggest turning off your Home/Assist, and clearing the existing schedules by selecting Settings > Reset > Schedule > Reset again.

Pellet stove installation

Excellent product. The jewel of thermostat. I use it to control my pellet stove. I had to tweak the installation to bring an auxiliary 24v but I found a solution befote buying on google. This set-up should be adressed by Nest in the installation process. There is no pellet stove in the equipement you have to select in the programmation. House automation at a fraction of the cost. Buy it on black friday!
