Trys to outsmart me

The thermostat goes on without hitting the emergency threshold or without hitting the date/time/temp parameters. For some reason it thinks the house needs heating even when we don't. I wish it would just stick to the date/time/temp parameters for the one time a day that I want it to go on and then 45 minutes later turn off. Another annoying feature is that it won't let you set a temp setting less than 1 hour from a originating temp setting.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hi Craig, thanks for sharing your feedback to let us know of your issues with using the Nest Learning Thermostat, and we’re sorry to hear that it’s a difficult experience for you.
The thermostat changes its temperature automatically due to some factors like, schedule, learned habits (auto schedule), and Home/Away Assist which makes your thermostat go to ECO mode. You have an option to use it as a traditional programmable thermostat. You can manually set the temperature and create your schedules for the thermostat to follow. Here’s how:
With the Nest app:
- Open the Nest app and select your Nest thermostat.
- Select Settings and then Auto-Schedule.
- Tap the switch to turn it off.
On your thermostat:
- Press the ring and choose Settings and then Nest Sense and then Auto-Schedule and then Off.
We also suggest turning off your Home/Assist, and clearing the existing schedules by selecting Settings, > Reset, > Schedule > Reset.

Very easy to install and set up.
The best is very easy to use and the app is just as easy. I love it that I can just ask Alexa to turn down the heat and it happens automatically without having to get out of bed.

Not only does it work as advertised but once you get it in and running you can forget about it. It takes care of itself. I do love the outside weather showing up when I walk by. If you do need to change a setting it's easy to do on screen it in the app. I do prefer the app. Don't even have to go to the thermostat. Also, with the integration it completes a smart home beautifully.

How do you improve perfection?

This learning thermostat has been put through the tests of self learning with my constantly changing work schedule. I don't leave at a specific time nor return on a schedule and the thing keeps right up with my requested temperature. I like the ability to save energy and yet walk through the door to my temperature no matter when that time is.
