Stylish and energy and time saving

We’ve had the 2nd generation Nest Thermostat for a little over 6 months and love it - the look, the convenience, the simplicity.
The verdict is still out on extent of the energy savings, but the Nest certainly makes our life easier. No more middle of the night “did you turn the temp down?” and the ability to adjust the temperature from your phone or edit the schedule is great.

Set up issues

Not at all intuitive. Online apps don’t seem to help very much. Very difficult to set a schedule. Hard to understand whether they learning thermostat part will override the schedule that I sent. Total lack of an online “how to“ manual would be a big help if it was added

Hi Smith, thanks for sharing some insights. We’re sorry to hear that you had such a difficulty with the Nest Learning Thermostat and that it didn’t meet your expectations.
Nest thermostats have been designed to learn from your temperature preferences to keep your indoor temperature at a level you're comfortable with regardless of the outdoor temperature. However, you can turn off its learning feature to use the thermostat as a programmable thermostat while still making use of all other features. Here's how:
On the Nest app:
- Open the Nest app and select your Nest thermostat.
- Select Settings, and then Auto-Schedule.
- Tap the switch to turn it off.
On the Nest thermostat:
- Press the ring and choose Settings, and then Nest Sense, and then Auto Schedule, and then Off.
We also suggest clearing all the automatic schedules created by this feature so that the thermostat doesn't kick in based on these schedules. Once cleared, you can create your own schedules. To clear the schedules: On the thermostat, select Settings > Reset > Schedule > Reset > Turn the ring to complete the reset.

First month I saved $100

It’ll pay for itself quickly. I’ve lived in this house 6 years and August is typically $280+ on the electric bill. August 2018 after having nest for a little more than a month was $100 less than that. Immediate savings is awesome

Great money saver

I've got my Nest installed in a vacation home I rent out, the eco feature is great for making sure the AC isn't left running at full power all day when there's no-one at home. The usage graphs make it easy to keep track of what the system has been doing, straight to my phone.

Small, Smart, Simple

This is my 2nd Best Thermostat. I left the other in my house when we sold it. I've installed them both myself (and I'm not close to a professional technician). I've had 2 different colors of the same generation. I'm a big fan of the app and Google Assistant integration. It pairs well with other Google smart products. It's simple to setup and use. It does save on energy costs. I highly recommend it
