Great Devices

I've installed 3 of these. 2 in our primary residence and one in a seasonal home. A quick call to Tech Support to answer a couple of questions, and installation was a snap!
All 3 device are monitored on my iPhone. This is especially helpful for the seasonal home to keep an eye on the temp there and adjust it as needed.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I am returning my Nest. As nice as it looks it will not work easily in my environment. I need a thermostat that easily runs my heat pump and furnace either together or separate. Acc heating is very important where I live as well as being able to shut the heat pump off and run only the furnace after the temps get down into single digits or even negative temps. After Thanksgiving I more than likely will not see temps above freezing until March and a heat pump doesn't run well like that. I even had a heat tech out to help get what I wanted out of my new nest, he suggested against it. I will be going with a different brand of smart thermostat that will work easily the way I need it to. Sorry Nest.If you have a heat pump and have extremely cold Winters like I do the Nest Smart Thermostat might not be the right fit for you.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Best thermostat ever

I bought one of these a few years ago (1st gen) and it worked so well at keeping the house comfortable and the utility bill (both gas for heat and electric for AC) down I bought a second one (2nd gen) and moved original 1st gen downstairs to control radiant floor heating and installed new 2nd gen upstairs where the original was. Although the control relay for the radiant floor heating needed to be replaced, (Honeywell RA89A to an Aube RC840T) the installation was simple and it works great. I am seriously considering another one to control my garage heater!
Being able to set the temp from anywhere with my iPhone using the app is fantastic. In bed and don't want to get up to change the temperature? Just pickup your phone and done. Forget to change the mode before you go on vacation or a weekend roadtrip..as long as you have internet..done.
One of the nicest things about it is the way it works with central AC. Where normal thermostats will shut down the compressor (outdoor AC unit) and the house circulation fan at the same time, this one continues to run the fan even after the compressor is shut off. This utilizes the cold still built up in the exchange unit that would normally bleed off unused. This made a major difference in our electric bill when running the AC.
Now I just wish they would create a thermostat to control the heat pump I use to warm our pool..that would be awesome. <in darth vader voice> My thermal control system would then be complete .

We LOVE our Nest Thermostat! It's so nice to not have to get out of bed on a cold, cold morning to run to the thermostat to turn up the heat, just to run back to bed to wait for the house to heat up! We love just telling Alexa to turn up the heat, and staying toasty warm in bed!
It's also nice to be able to monitor the temperature in our second home (condo)!
I would recommend this to a friend!

Easily upgraded!

I bought this to upgrade an older thermostat, it was easy to install and after only three days it’s already learning the household temps we like. I can control from my Alexa, google hone, phone and just adjust it on the wall. I was able to install it myself in about 15 minutes. Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting an upgrade!

The Nest thermostat is better than I expected. I received it as part of another product installation. It took me only about 20 minutes to set up. I was able to test it out to make sure it would operate the heat and A/C, and it worked as expected. It looks great on the wall. Love the app-- very intuitive and easy to use.

I LOVE my new Nest thermostats (2)... Easy to install, even for a more complicated dual fuel/zoned HVAC system (there's plenty of YouTube info online). And easy to use. A great customer experience -- from unboxing to using!
