Support on wrong side

My unit was roaring and I checked filter, which I had replaced not too long ago. It was very hard to remove and was sucked up against fan. It was installed according to arrow, but the support was on the bottom side, not top to protect from fan. I changed filter and reversed direction. Will replace with another brand and style that fits and supports filter correctly.

Hello. 3M has made a change to our Basic, MPR 300, MPR 600 & MPR 800 Filtrete Air Filters. The look of the filter may appear to now be backwards from what you have seen in the past. The new design will use polypropylene strands to support the pleats and are placed on the upstream side of the filter. The older design used expanded metal mesh and was placed on the down stream side of the filter. You will still want to follow the direction of the arrows on these filters when installing into your unit. Backwards arrow

Wondered why it took so long to warm the house and seemed to cycle more than usual then this morning it cycled way too often and would not warm the house. Finally realized the arrow for air direction they printed on filter appears to be backwards because the point of arrow is on side without the extra netting that goes on the blower side. I can only hope no damage was done and it already cost me an unnecessary service call.

We have designed a new polypropylene support material for these filters which supports the filter material from the upstream side. Please install the filter according to the air flow arrows. Got a new air conditioner 2 years ago. Never changed the filter. My son got me this filter cause I kept forgetting to get one, The next day after putting it in noticed that I was coughing as much anymore. Thank you.

did not fit and one had barely any filter

I bought this pack because they di dnot have the red type in stock and I needed some quickly. One had very thin fabric atspopts; you coul;d see my finger through the thin material. I tried to fit the other one in but the cardboard was too big. It jammed trying to slide it in. Only got one inch inside the furnace frame. Gave up and bought red filters.

Not sized correctly

The Ace brand filter I was replacing dropped right out, no problem. I could not wedge this new filter in place, try as I might. Eventually bent it and taped around the now warped edges. How many different ways are there to measure filter size? Spoiler alert: there are two, correctly and incorrectly. 3M uses the latter method.
