Undersized. Not of advertised value.

Product size states 20x25x4. Inconspicuously designated as slim fit. Actual size is 19.5x24.5x3.25.

Traps Everything

I have been using these for about 15 years now and love them. You would be amazed at how much stuff you can see trapped in one even after just a month. It will remove pollen, and even smoke and mold from the air. I would suggest getting a few for a season, especially if you dodn't have central air and are running the heat for the first time in the fall with a filter this fine. You will probably end up changing the first one after a month, then ever 3 after that unless there are constant pollutants in your house, like a lot of smoke or a mold problem.
I would recommend this to a friend!

16x20x4 does not fit Honeywell / Lennox filter box

Buyers beware: The actual size of the 16x20x4 was reduced at some point last couple of years. As the result it doesn't properly fit in Honeywell / Lennox filter boxes, despite the advertisement on the packaging.
The filter size used to be 15-7/8" x 19-7/8" x 4-5/16". The new filter size is 15-7/16" x 19-3/4" x 4-5/16", so it is 7/16" (1 cm) narrower than the old filter.

Filter width changed without proper labeling

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been purchasing 16x25x4 filters for years. 3M recently changed the filter design (thick paper stock casing has no diagonal elements) but also the width. As a result the filter width is 1 centimeter too narrow and thus leaves a gap through which unfiltered air can go into the blower.
My observations are consistent with what another user's review from early August 2025 is describing, and their photos clearly show the difference in width between the previous and new designs of the filter.
At the very least you should indicate clearly on the label that the filter is narrower than previously. I know you made 2 versions of a 16x25x4 in the past (regular and slim; the regular version fits my furnace). Are you now only making narrow versions?

Good filter. Although it is advertised as lasting up to 12 months, I feel the need to replace it every 2-3 months. I have a VERY difficult time removing it from air cleaner, as there are no holes in the filter in which to insert your fingers to grab it for removal. A simple design change would make it more user-friendly. I've found that I have to use a knife to cut a hole in the filter cardboard to have something to hold on to. Also, the cardboard strips on the sides usually get caught in my air cleaner, so as I'm removing the filter, I really have to pull hard, tearing the side strips, as I remove the filter.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Excellent Product

My wife has had "4" open heart surgeries, 2nd pace-maker defibultor so the quality of the air in our home is very important to us. We use Filtrete filters. They are an excellent product to say the very least. We keep a spotless home and change the air filters every 3 months. I am amazed how much they catch dust, pollens etc. as our home has been taken care of meticulously. It amazes us, again as our home is very clean. The filters do an exceptional job in clean the air. My only wish they be more responsible in price but it is what it is. Thank you for making sure a wonderful product. Just wished they are a little more reasonable in price.
