Nice unit but installation instructions are not always clear

Operates with the ventilation power and basic quiet as advertised. Have not tried the steam clean yet. There are some parts of the installation that lease doubt about what to do, especially when raising it into position. There is no mention of creating headroom for the power cord. Some editing of the manual and clear pictures would help.

Prompt delivery and easy install

Followed instructions and install went reasonably easy. The UC-PS38 looks great in our kitchen and the performance is greater than I expected the lighting is fantastic and all cooking odors are exhausted leaving our house free of cooking odors. We have not used the self cleaning feature yet

Great Vent!

We love the many fan speeds. The lowest couple are relatively quiet. The highest settings are pretty loud but they pull a lot of air out too. For most use cases, lower speeds work really well.
Installation was straightforward.
The lights are also quite nice. We are super happy so far!

kitchen hood

This is the more costly version of the 30in hood offered. It features edge suction which I find is more effective than the usual hood suction by two fans. The design is better as oil is collected by a stainless steel panel and prevents accumulated oil on the fan grill from dripping onto the stove. Noise level is on par with my old hood which has suction by two fans directly exposed to the stove. Like the 6 fan speeds and the bright lights.
The video of the installation procedure is not practical as it is difficult to reach the attachment holes. A better way is to drill thru with an extra long bit and use bolts for securing the hood.

best vent hood

We have bought several vent hoods in the past and watched all the smoke go around the hood and up to the ceiling, usually resulting in our smoke alarms going off. This is the first vent hood that actually works, and the first time we used it, we just stood there and watched all the smoke get vented out so well. We are definitely happy with the PS38 and would recommend it to anyone.

Barring installation, this is an amazing machine

It is hard to install this, do not do it alone. You have to vent it with as short a run as possible and use 6" diameter steel piping. Don't try to do this as a first time thing. Make sure you build out the cabinet bottoms and have at least 12 " from wall to front of cabinet. Drill out holes for the piping 1/4 or 1/2" larger (6 1/2 or 6 1/2"). The rear mounting screw on the right is very close to the power cord hole, if the hole intrudes on the space for the screw it is important to provide blocking or a hanger. Other than that, fantastic machine! I love the touch panel, can't wait to use the cleaning function.
