A heavy duty awesome vent hood

This vent hood is awesome,it’s quiet and heavy duty. It amazes me at how much air it moves but is so quite compared to our old vent hood. And when I say it’s heavy duty I mean it is well built with thick stainless steel and the parts inside it are heavy, you better have 2:strong helpers to install this vent hood. The only negative is the holes for screws to secure it to the cabinet are hard to see and get a screw started because of the heavy duty fans block your view.

Going strong 5 years!

I got this range hood when I got my kitchen coutertop replaced and it has been 5 years since. It still looks like new, and it's easy to keep clean with the stainless steel oil try and the steam cleaning system. Much better than what the house came with.

We have had this ranged hood for 5 years now and still works like a charm. It's easy to clean up with the oil tray and steam cleaning option, and the stainless steel keeps it looking new!

PS-38 Works Well

The PS-38 does its job very well - satisfied with the product. It is slightly noisy. Few things I would have loved to have on the product - 1. kitchen timer, 2. delay auto-shut off.

Awesome Kitchen Range Hood

We have the Hauslane PS38 range hood and it is great. After some thirty years of cooking with different brand range hoods this is definitely a game changer in efficiency. The wife and I love the easy of use touch panel controls and simple cleaning. We use this range hood many times a week because we love to cook and find it a wonderful addition to our kitchen appliances. We are so impressed with this product, we fully recommend it.

Totally Amazed!

I am totally amazed by the PS38.
I only had it for 4 days so far, so this is a first impression review, and I can't comment on the longevity of the unit. My impression with the initial 4 day of use is WOW, I wish I had it years ago. (This unit was to replace a microwave/vent combo over an electric stove. The duct was put in place during the installation.)
Here are a few things that I wish could be different.
1. I wish the unit came with a template clearly marking where to cut holes. While the duct area is easy to handle, the cord location is not as easy to measure. With one of the four screws being so close to the cord, I wish the template would give me the exact location to make a hole. We ended up cutting a hole a bit too far from the edge, thus resulting in the screw not being able to be screwed into the cabinet.
2. I wish I had known that the water tray for steam cleaning needs to go all the way to the wall for it to function. I was going to tile the backsplash all the way up to the range hood, but then I won't be able to use the steam cleaning. Our current plan is to install an 8-inch stainless backsplash between the tile and range hood. This is not done yet, so I am not sure about the aesthetics.
3. The stainless steel gets dirty easily, much easier than my refrigerator and dishwasher.
Here are a few things that I wish could be different.

With the cons out of the way, here is how the unit amazed me.
Suction power: 3 days after the installation came the Thanksgivings. Baking turkey at 450F generates a lot of grease and smoke, and in previous years, the smell of turkey would linger in the house for days. I upped the range hood to 4 (it was set at 1 while I was making other dishes) before opening the oven door. The huge cloud of white smoke rushed out of the oven, and went out of the house almost instantly. I saw a huge white cloud right outside of my kitchen window! I was in awe and was totally sold on this range hood. Today I am making soup with the leftover turkey and had it simmering on the stove for hours. I set the range hood to 1. There was no smell in the house at all.
Noise level: level 1 registers about 40db, very similar to my Miele dishwasher while running. I had it on for hours today and it didn't bother the family at all. At level 2, it's about 50db. I imagine using this level mostly during day to day cooking. I don't think it's loud, I can listen to books or have conversations while it's on. Level 4 and above is quite loud (60+db, level 6 at 69db), loud enough that we can not carry on conversations across the big kitchen.
Self cleaning: I ran the self steam clean the day it was installed. It took 3 minutes and the water was nearly clear and there was no trace of grease, as expected. Today I noticed quite a bit of grease on the cover of the fans and ran the steam clean again. While the cover is still greasy (I may have to unscrew the cover and clean it every few months), the disposed water was quite greasy. Without reading much about the cleaning, I assumed it cleaned the fan blades which are not accessible during normal cleaning.
Light bulbs: The 2 light bulbs that came with the unit are bright, but they are 2700K. I swapped them out with 4000k bulbs to match with my other lighting. The light bulbs are easy and cheap to replace.

High quality, Silent, Great Suction

We first bought and installed an GE Profile range hood, which was not much different in pricing. The quality on the GE hood was appalling! We switched to Hauslane UC-PS38 and the difference as night and day! Right away we could tell this unit was high quality, solid and heavy with all metal parts. Installation was fairly simple, provided you have a way to lift the hood and keep it in place (I used stacks of big boxes, plywood and a car jack!). The unit runs much quieter than all competitor units we tried, when used in the 3 lower setting. Suction is more than adequate in the lower 3 setting itself. Suction coverage is also much better than all other hoods in this price range, it covers the front of the range and both sides quite well. It is also easily the best looking hood that we tried.
I would recommend this to a friend!
