Very compact

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This worked out perfectly. I needed to get some exhaust manifold bolts off in a tight space and this worked out perfectly. It's so compact I could get it right where I needed it and it had enough power to break them free. These bolts are known for snapping off and that was not the issue here. Having a bright light is a great feature as well.

This is a needed addition to my collection. I will use this quite often. It seems to have plenty of power in a compact design.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got this as my daily go to for driving screws and bolts. Previously, I used a standard 20v impact with a 1/4" bit driver but was looking for brushless replacement . There are several key form features that make this thing great. The hog ring anvil is a super secure connection, it makes a very satisfying click when you lock a socket onto it. My previous impact gun used socket adapter which had alot of play in it. This caused me to drop a socket in a hard to reach area more than once. The secure connection to the socket on this hong ring anvil, will also give me piece of mind while working overhead securing bolts in truss work. The flat back to the tool is a great point of contact for your other hand, it allows great control when driving timber lock or other lag style screws into place. The belt hook is also wider and slides into place much easier. While this might seem trivial, having the tool feel more secure while it's not in my hand allows me to concentrate more on things like moving work material or climbing a ladder. This is the first tool of this series I have used that has the adjustable torque and light settings, and while I am still getting used the added feature my initial take away is that it's awesome. I purchased an adapter to take this back to a 1/4" screw bit, and given the compact form of this unit it still falls into the same profile as my old impact gun. Overall I couldn't be happier with this thing, and would highly recommend it.

Great Tool for Starter Mechanic

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I really like the 1/2inch impact wrench with hog ring anvil. The product is durable and powerful. I originally had a 3/8 impact wrench and was in love with that as well, but this one is truly better. The modes on the 1/2inch impact are just what I needed. Their are times when you just don't want it to hammer and with the new modes you get just that. Great tool for starter mechanic. Would highly recommend.

Picked this up when it came out, tested it out on some lags to make sure it worked, and put it up on the wall with the 16 Dewalt tools I picked up around the same time with all the great deals they had going on. Went to use it a couple weeks ago for real for the first time, and no power to the trigger. The light switch works and you can change modes, but no power, and doesn't turn the anvil at all. It took a week to finally get it called in for repair (the first person to help didn't know what they were doing). Finally got a customer service rep that could help me a week later (he was great, and the only reason I didn't return/sell my dewalt holiday haul). The only other time I've had that happen with a tool being a dud brand new was with ryobi. I also picked up the 12v version, and that has been awesome. I'm hoping this was just a one off poor quality check issue. I'll have to see if it holds up better than 1 use after repair.

Great deck builders tool

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have had this 1/2” impact for a few months now using it in new construction setting lag bolts and anchor bolts as well around the garage. the impact has a selection of setting depending on the task. I have found I pretty much just keep it on the driving/lag setting for most uses. For my application I didn’t find the bolt setting to be useful as it kept making me think the impact was broken. It would rotate and stop and rotate and stop.. not really sure of the true function. However on the lag setting I found it useful. I do feel it is slightly under powered. Being a 1/2” the torque just isn’t really enough to break lug nuts on a tire, but is enough to set lag screws and anchor bolts which is really what it is designed for. So if your going to get this compact drill for auto mechanic work, I wouldn’t recommend. For construction it works fine. I do find that I tend to carry my standard impact with 1:4” and 1/2” adapters and find that as more my go to than this. It is nice to have. I would say if your a deck contractor it’s a perfect tool.

A little under powered for automotive work

I am not sure all the rave reviews, but unless you do some light automotive work, this does not have enough power to really do the job. My DEWALT 20V MAX XR Impact Wrench Kit, Brushless, High Torque, Hog Ring Anvil, 1/2-Inch, DCF899HB) has way more power, not compact by any means, but 1200 ft. lbs. break away and 700 ft. lbs. of max torque. It is way better for stubborn tractor lug nuts. Yes, it is not for the driving small screws, but you can drive a 12 inch long lag bolt with ease, and still have power left.

Absolutely a powerhouse in a compact design ,love that it is a variable speed and has 4 different impact profiles for what ever task at hand . Would reccomend this to anyone wanting a compact impact wrench . Liked it so much I have ordered a 3/8 drive model as well . it has a decent warranty of which I hope to not need ,so far all is good but have not used a lot yet
