Great while it lasted

This has been my all time fav vacuum. But the last couple months it seems like everything just falling apart. I've had this vacuum for 2 years and I have told so many people to buy it! Because it was so good. Then it started clogging every 10 minutes and I would have to constantly take the hoses apart to figure out where! And it was just basic (my hair, dog hair, dust...) Nothing that should be clogging it! Mind you I generally vacuum once a day so there wasn't much. Then my power button broke. I had to rig it to stay on and just turn on/off with plug. Last night it is officially done! The hose fell apart, won't suck up anything, plus my power button is taped down. I'm disabled and can't mess with it any longer. My mom's power button broke as well so it may be "a thing" about it. Wish it would have lasted longer.

Excitement turned Disappointment

After months of research and deliberation on what vacuum to buy I purchased the Shark Rotator Professional Lift Away (NV501). Several friends had recently purchased this model & recommended it. Several other friends had Dyson & recommended those. Initially I was SO pleased with this vacuum. The amount of dirt it took up made me feel like I'd been living in filth my whole life. This honeymoon period lasted nearly a year before things went downhill. First the hose tore between the folds at the top near the handle. Then one of the thin red plastic pieces on the bottom of the brush roll housing cracked. It started losing its turning ease. I've looked at replacement parts however there is no option to purchase individual parts such as a new brush roll or just the very bottom of the casing. By the time I purchase a new hose and base motor unit I may as well just buy a whole new vacuum!
For something so expensive I feel it should last at least a few years without requiring major replacements.
Think I'll go back to buying a new vacuum every year vs spending hundreds on something that only performs like new for the first year.
(Of note, I used this under normal conditions in my home with weekly vacuuming. I am 40 years old so no wild crazy acrobatics or daredevil stunts while using it. I have cleaned the filters monthly & replaced them every 3 months)
For something so expensive I feel it should last at least a few years without requiring major replacements.

This vacumn from the day I bought has given me nothing but problems. I have pets and this machine clogs constantly in fact everytime I use it ! My dogs are not long haired no way that this machine should be clogging like it does. I will say it again I HATE THIS MACHINE!

Ok I bought this in 2014 and I was just gifted a new shark for Mother’s Day because my Shark Rotator was on its last leg. It had plenty of power to pick up the finest of pet hair and dust. Any vacuum can pick up a heavier object but the true test is that fine pet hair, especially if you have allergies that a cat who likes to go outside an hour a day or your dog can bring in and rub on your comforter!
We are a family of 5 we used it on carpet, steps,curtains, car, ceiling corners and 4 of us have long hair.
We are a true test to any vacuum.
This was an excellent vacuum not one complaint here!

Hose split in less than 1 year of use

The hose on the vacuum split apart in less than a year of use. We had a Kenmore that last over ten years. A vacuum should last longer than a year. Very disappointed.

Best Vacuum Ever "Dog Hair Be Gone|"

This is the best vacuum ever. I purchased it in 2013 after watching an informercial and it is still running strong today. I just replaced the hose from stretching it over the years. I have a Black Lab, a cat and a small mix dog. Anyone with a Lab knows how much they shed its never ending. I am amazed at how much hair and dirt this vacuum picks up. I can't believe that after one of two days I have a FULL container. IT is THE BEST VACUUM EVER. My sister has an overpriced DYSON and this SHARK blows the DYSON away.
I would recommend this to a friend!

We have had this vacuum maybe a year and a half. I had Another shark before this and loved it so much. But this vacuum is total garbage! Every time we vacuum we have to unclog it. You can tell when they made this machine they knew it would clog because there are MANY places built in to unclog the machine. Instead of building a quality vacuum that doesn’t clog. We have hardwood throughout the house, an area rug in the living room and our bedrooms have carpet. We do not have a big house. This vacuum is the worst I have ever owned. Very disappointed

My husband selected this model based on reviews, it's the 1st time I use this machinery and never ever again. I am contemplating to return to Miele. In my whole life, I never had a vacuum that spread dirt back and I was using it on a smooth floor: hard wood. I can only imagine what's the true cleaning result when used on carpet and spread returns disappear in carpet fiber. Awful.
