Excellent Espresso Machine at a Reasonable Price

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have previously owned espresso makers from two very well-known brands that sell a number of different units, in some cases costing more twice what the Casabrews Ultra costs. In terms of quality, the build quality of the Ultra is excellent, and readily evident from the weight of the unit as well as the sturdiness when attaching the portafilter. The Ultra is capable of pulling repeated shots of espresso without any pause. The machine does an excellent job of consistently delivering a nice amount of crema as well. If you are looking for a reliable espresso machine at a reasonable price, look no further and give the Ultra a try.

I am really enjoying this espresso machine. Although there is a bit of a learning curve with regards to ideal beans to grind for the water that you use, getting the best grind size to achieve an ideal extraction, achieving your ratio verses time and getting the best from the steam wand, the end results are really very good. The flushing, cleaning process and descaling is much better on this machine than others that I have had, I think that it does a much better job of preserving the machines life span. Having some really useful PID controls, like changing the brewing temperature for different bean types and controlling the water volume that is delivered, is a really useful asset and really helps to get the best from both the machine and the coffee beans that you use. The steam wand is really good, after some practice, I can produce the ideal steamed milk for Flat White, Latte (both with art) and Cappuccino. As I am Lactose intollerant, I have to use Lactose Free Milk or Oat Milk, this wand works perfectly on either. I have had my Ultra now for a few months, albeit that I am still experimenting with different beans, bean types, grind sizes and assessories to improve results, this machine does produce some really lovely coffee. I would recommend it to anyone that wants to enjoy good coffee or learn about the process of brewing good espresso.

After a few months of use, I can confidently say that the Casabrews Ultra is a solid, well-built, and beautifully designed espresso maker. I originally purchased it to replace my old De’Longhi Dedica, which I liked, but I wanted something with a slightly larger footprint and greater water capacity. The Casabrews Ultra fit the bill perfectly.
What truly exceeded my expectations were its user-friendly settings, the clear LCD display, and the thoughtfully designed drip tray—large, easy to empty, and equipped with a fill indicator that actually works. Most impressive of all is the build quality: the majority of the casing is stainless steel, giving it a sturdy weight that keeps it stable when locking in the portafilter. No more sliding around the counter!

Worked Great Until It Didn't

I bought this a few months ago and it has been perfect until just recently. Pulled great shots and pretty quick milk steaming. Recently when pulling my normal shot I heard a crack about 10 seconds in (normal 18g dose) and water started leaking out between the portafilter and the seal in the group head. I can't see where the actual damage is, and there are no replacement parts for this type of issue on the website. Was also using the casabrew bottomless portafilter. Not sure if this is just my machine or a known issue.

Takes about a week to dial everything in, recommend getting the bottomless portafilter. 18g coffee of choice on the finest grind setting atleast for my grinder. then manually set the brew time and stop it at 36g out it'll drip about an additional 10g after that. And then 5oz of milk/creamer of choice steamed. The default settings on the machine will not give you a good cup of espresso because it comes out at about a 5:1 ratio, I find a 2.5-3:1 ratio is best.

Love my ULTRA

Honestly, I don’t write reviews often, but this machine deserves it. I was tired of wasting money at coffee shops, got the ULTRA, plugged it in, and boom, good espresso. No crazy setup, no fuss. I’m not a barista and don’t want to be one. Just want decent coffee fast, and this does the job.
