Quality images need not apply

With images shot on hi resolution & hi size, the images are grainy (at best) when viewed at 100%. The rapid shutter (burst mode) is slow between frames. I really thought that a Canon at this offered price would be better quality and I was very disappointed with this product based on previous Canon purchases.

Not worth the money

This is my third Canon PowerShot SX130 IS in less than 9 months. The first one was defected, the second one was blurry and now this one is blurry. The auto adjust is useless. Even videos come out blurry because the camera will try to focus for some reason and turn it blurry. I wish I could get my money back on it. Also the battery life of the two AAs is ridiculous. Brand new batteries last maybe three hours or so.
Pros: Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, Simple controls/menu, easy to use

just got this sx130 just to find out that it was made bad. rmware Update (Version 1.0.1.0) fixes a phenomenon in which the audio and video get recorded out of sync when shooting movies with the image quality set to high definition (1280x720 pixels).
This phenomenon occurs gradually from the start of recording and becomes more noticeable as the recording time gets longer.
* The longest HD movies this model can record at one time are approximately 10 minutes in length. This phenomenon occurs only when the image quality is set to HD; it does not occur in other settings (640x480 pixels or 320x240 pixels). (THIS IS FROM CANON)

complete disappointment

I was looking to purchase a more portable and higher megapixel camera than my current Canon Powershot S3IS. After reading the reviews, I decided on the SX130 and couldn't wait to start using it. From the box I was disappointed. I had read the review of the grainy LCD screen, and the response from the Canon tech support stating they had not had this complaint before. Well, my LCD is grainy as well. Once the picture is taken, the picture review appears clear, however it is hard to determine if the picture you are shooting is in focus before snapping the picture. Another complaint is the focus box that appears on the LCD when partially depressing the shutter button. It seems the box chooses another site to focus on rather than what I want to focus on. Also, the LCD goes black for a few seconds after taking the picture. I find this annoying. The pet/kid mode does not stop the action of the moving subjects. Even the slightest movement results in a blurred picture. As for the actual prints, the quality is terrible. I get clearer and sharper images from my old 6 mp S3IS than I do this 14 mp camera. I guess you get what you pay for. It is definately going back!
Pros: Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use, large lcd

Brand new batteries only last about 30 minutes. DO NOT BUY THIS CAMERA unless you own a battery company and have many on hand to replace every 30 minutes or so.
Cons: battery life

SO Disappointed

--I got this as a gift after my old Canon digital finally died.I was so excited! And then I was sorely disappointed. --It EATS batteries - doesn't matter what kind, it eats 'em. I get maybe15 flash pictures, tops, before I have to put in new batteries. --It is SLOW to cycle after a flash. I can't tell you the number of great shots I have missed because I had to wait for the camera to get ready again after a flash picture. --I did find it easy to use, having had a Canon camera before. I rarely have to consult the manual. --I also love the excellent zoom capability - it does take some excellent outdoor photos.
Pros: Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, durable, Bright LCD, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
Cons: Poor Low-Light Performance, Short battery life

I absolutely LOVE my SX30 it does everything I need. I also have a SLR and this camera beats it hands down for ease of use - not having to change lenses when a quick opportunity arises. I have taken some awesome photos of the moon and it shows every detail of the craters. For outdoor/nature photography - you can't beat it! It's light weight and easy to carry on hiking trips, in the boat, etc.
Pros: good battery life, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, durable, Bright LCD, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use

Mostly good

I've used the camera now for a couple weeks. For the most part I like the camera. The picture quality is very good. The gallery software that came with it is easy to use. My biggest complaint is the time it takes for the flash to refresh. While it waits to refresh the view screen is black.
Pros: picture quality, long zoom, value for price
Cons: flash refresh, battery life
I would recommend this to a friend!
