Great watch, the battery last forever over 23 days, but there’s one thing I think garmin should release another aviation watch face with more data to display, apart from that it’s the best watch

Advanced features and ability to customize faces lets you jump between activities with ease. In addition, the aviation functions are a great backup to the plane. Glad I upgraded!

Disappointing Downgrades
on December 31, 2025

I can’t help but feel disappointed in my most recent Garmin purchase; the first time feeling a bit of buyer’s remorse in any Garmin product I’ve owned and that’s a long list.
I just received my D2 Mach 2 watch; my 3rd D2; going back through the Charlie, then Mach 1 and now the Mach 2.
I love the upgraded fitness and tracking tools and experience, no denying that; but the reason I buy the Mach series is for the Aviation Specific tools and features.
In the past the series has always progressed and built upon itself in the aviation sphere and feature set; but not this time!
The new Mach 2 is clearly a step backwards from previous ‘flagship’ models in multiple regards.
To begin, the basic watch face… I have the 51 mm model and the display is huge and a beautiful upgrade from the Mach 1, but the Mach 1 allowed me to add 4 simple data fields around the bezel of the face and keep the 3 aviation weather ‘circles’ (love!); no such luck on the Mach 2. If I want to have some other data, then the aviation circles must come off and I can’t add all 3 circles/aviation weather data to any other watch face…
Seems like an oversight!
Why were all the Aviation features stripped from the Mach 2?
In the world of flight, Mach 2 is twice the speed of Mach 1; yet in this watch, we’re left with only half the Aviation features of the previous version; so that’s slowing down, not speeding up!
It’s never been Garmin’s style to remove what made a product great when upgrading, but that clearly not the case here.
My gut tells me it’s a move to push users to use and subscribe to the Garmin Pilot app; but where is the Airports Glance? Without it, there’s no way to view airport information at all on the watch! All of the database info is in there with regards to runway info and other data because the filters for Direct to and the Airport watch face ‘circles’ have runway specific data presented. Unsure of frequencies or such (because there’s absolutely no way to view airports; only navigate directly to them ((unless you build a flight plan on Garmin Pilot)).
MOS weather is gone, although the new weather features hourly forecasts; which are kind of the same, but unknown as to source, since MOS seems more official.
When using the comparison tool on the shopping website, essentially all of the aviation specific features have been removed.
What gives?!?
I’ll admit, even as a professional corporate pilot, I didn’t use some of the features very frequently at all; but it was nice when I did.
What’s worse though, the features I did use and come to love are gone!
Please reconsider and update the watch to bring back what made it an aviation watch!

I purchased the watch, was super excited. But was disappointed when started to use the watch. For some reason, this model D2 is missing many features that my D1 has. I will be returning the D2.
The graphic of Attitude/Altimeter is missing Runway info gone Over complicated the menus

Garmin's D2 Mach 2 Home Run!
on January 4, 2026

I received the Garmin D2 Mach 2 Aviation Smartwatch as a Christmas present from my wife, and without hesitation, it is the greatest aviator smartwatch I have ever owned. From the moment I put it on, the build quality and attention to detail were obvious. The watch is rugged yet refined, with a display that’s incredibly crisp and readable in all lighting conditions—whether I’m in the cockpit, outdoors, or just going about my day. Garmin clearly designed this with real pilots in mind. The aviation-specific features are outstanding. Direct-to navigation, airport and weather information, Pulse Ox, and advanced flight tools are seamlessly integrated and intuitive to use. It’s not just a smartwatch that includes aviation features—it’s a true aviation instrument that also happens to be an exceptional everyday smartwatch. Battery life is excellent, performance is smooth, and the health and fitness tracking are a welcome bonus. It transitions effortlessly from flight operations to daily wear without feeling bulky or out of place. Simply put, the D2 Mach 2 sets the standard for aviation smartwatches. If you’re a pilot looking for a reliable, feature-rich, and beautifully built watch, this is it. Garmin absolutely nailed it—and my wife absolutely crushed this gift. Highly recommended.

Fitness, Aviation, Day at a Glance, Battery Life!
on January 12, 2026

I'm a long time Apple Watch user. That is great, but I love this watch better. First, battery life is weeks, not 18 hours. Second, it's handsome and an eye-catcher, not an everyman's watch. I didn't realize how much fitness and health is built in. Top notch! And of course, if your a pilot, like me, you'll love that it is a true pilot's watch. That's not an afterthought, is is core to the watches base functions. The light is highly useful. And, to my surprise, it's light. Oh, and having both buttons and a swipable screen is great.

Too complicated.

There are no online videos showing how to use all the watch functions. I found it had too many features, and couldn't determine how to use all of them. Too complicated, I returned the watch I received for Christmas.
