Not what I was hoping for

Got this for my dad for Christmas - wanted something simple for him to use. As with other reviews, the condensation on the lid drips down and drips onto the warmer plate. The basket for coffee does not firmly seat into place and wobbles around when inserting the pot which lends the condensation leakage. I have to use extra coffee in basket to get a decent flavor compared comparable models. Overall, a disappointing design over the former Mr. Coffee maker he had and all others I've used in the past. I have buyer's remorse.

Broken handle in less than 10 days

I have had this pot for 9 days and while handwashing, the pot broke write off handle. I can see this is not the first time this has happened with some of the other reviews.

Drips down side of coffee maker

I purchased this item 2 months ago, and I can't believe the design of the lid. After I brew the coffee, I open the lid to remove the used grounds to discard them. The moisture that builds up on the lid , when open, drips down the side of the machine onto the side of the coffee pot and onto the warmer plate. This causes boiling of the water on the warmer plate, and also stains it. What a horrible lid design. A complete waste of money.

Handle broke day one.

We bought this coffee maker for guests. The first day we used it the handle broke off and the glass broke. We are lucky no one got hurt.

Deserves zero stars

I've owned many Mr coffee coffeemakers over the years and was satisfied, until I bought this model. It died after 9 months of use. I purchased another just like it yesterday as a replacement and all the water leaked from the bottom in the first use. Returned it this morning and bought a Black and Decker. No more Mr Coffees for me.

Ready to buy something else after nine days use.

Our old Mr. Coffee brand coffee maker broke down, after many years. We replaced it with the most similar Mr. Coffee product we could find. That's what we've always done.
What a disappointment this model is. First of all, the water does not flow out of the filter basket fast enough, and the grounds overflow the basket. Every. Single. Time. We're using the same filters, the same amount of coffee as in our old coffee maker. The entire top portion of the coffee maker has to be rinsed daily to remove grounds, something we shouldn't have to do.
Second, water puddles in the ridges of the lid and the area where the filter basket sits. The narrow crevices are difficult to clean.
Third, we wanted a white coffee maker like our last one. This seems to be an industry-wide issue. We couldn't find any coffee makers in white, except for some brands we'd never heard of. But we quickly realized how much more difficult it is to see dirt in a black coffee maker. Perhaps that is why so few white coffee makers are even available anymore.
Fourth, what's the point of that stupid water filter that balances inside the filter basket? The water we use for coffee is filtered through a Brita. It doesn't need a second filtering through the sketchy-looking filter that comes with this coffee maker. There are no instructions, and it took some time even to figure out how to use it. We didn't use it at first. Then we guessed that might be the reason the basket overflows. Even after using the filter, the basket still overflowed. Every. Single. Time.
We've used nothing but Mr. Coffee brand coffee makers since 1996. This one's going in the garbage, and we are buying something else. Guess what brand we won't consider?
Withdraw this coffee maker from the market before you lose other brand-loyal customers like us.

That is certainly not the experience we want you to have. No worries, we are here to help. For a possible fix, please check if the filter basket is inserted correctly and the carafe is properly placed on the warming plate. Also, try using standard coffee grounds and avoid overfilling the coffee basket. Lastly, make sure not to remove the carafe from the warming plate for more than 30 seconds while brewing.
Also, please note that using the carbon-based water filter in the Mr. Coffee® coffeemaker during the brewing process helps remove up to 97% of the chlorine from the water and improves the taste of your coffee. However, you can use the coffee maker without it.
To use the water filtration system in your Mr. Coffee® Coffeemaker, please follow these steps: 1. Align the red indicator on the frame to the letter that corresponds with the month that you are using the disk for the first time. This serves to remind you to change the disk every month (approx. 30 brewing cycles). To change the disk, remove the used disk, and insert a new disk into the frame. Note: For optimum results, use the water filtration system with a permanent filter. 2. Rinse the water filter in freshwater before use. 3. Follow Adding Water and Coffee Instructions. 4. Position the filter on top of the brew basket, and brew according to your particular model's brewing instructions. 5. When you are done brewing your coffee, rinse the water filter with fresh water. Do not put your water filter in the dishwasher.

Great coffee but power button failed.

I've had this black coffee maker for several years. Recently the green power light stopped working. Now the power switch doesn't work. Strangely we have an older shut model which we use when travelling and as a backup that still works great. Newer is not always better.

I wouldn't recommend

Can't recommend this machine to anyone else. Why they had to mess with a good thing is beyond me. The on/off switch is very poorly designed and difficult to use.
