I purchased this chair in red a few years ago. That Hyken is by far my favorite and most comfortable chair. I swear by it. I can sit in it for 10+ hours daily with no back issues. THIS PURCHASE HOWEVER was not as good. The gray one I just purchased isn't as flexible and doesn't adjust as well. The chair won't go as low as my red chair and being short my feet can't touch the ground and the weight that it puts on the back of my legs is a problem. I have to prop my feet onto something to alleviate the pain. I can't get the chair to go lower like my previous chair which I've gifted to my daughter. This chair is not as adjustable as the previous version. The head rest was very difficult to adjust on this chair. The wheels are not smooth. They jam up and it's really frustrating to move around in it. The wheels are all trying to move in different directions. It makes moving the chair difficult. Not smooth at all. I struggle to position the chair the way I want. The lumbar support is also not comparable. I get back aches and hip pain sitting in this chair after a few hours. It also wasn't packed well. Looked like a bunch of random items just thrown into a box. I wonder if someone returned it and they resold it to me that way; that's also concerning. Especially with this pandemic. Anyhow the chair itself isn't as good as the previous Hyken I purchased a few years ago which is very disappointing. The chair is decent but for the price it really should be as good as my original purchase a few years ago. The quality of this chair is not what it used to be. Hopefully after I break it in for a few months it will feel comparable to my last chair although the previous chair was perfect right out of the box. I'm not sure why the chair doesn't lower or bend the way my other Hyken does. It should be identical. Maybe I should have purchased another red chair. Not sure why the color would matter. This chair also had a weird film around the edge of the seat that looked like glue. I purchased another Hyken because my original purchase was the best chair I'd ever sat in This is supposed to be the same chair. It's not as good.
This chair is durable comfortable and a bargain for the quality! I suffer from back pain but the excellent lumbar support makes sitting in my chair all day a breeze! I bought one of these chairs more than 5 years ago and it's still going strong. Just bought another for my husband. What a great chair!
I purchased the chair after sitting in all the models available at my local Staples store... it was on sale for a great price and it felt pretty comfortable-however after having it shipped to my house and putting it together (also fairly simple and not too much time) I sat in the chair at my desk for several hours. Even though the chair is adjustable in many ways depending on your height (I'm 6 feet tall) you might find certain parts of the chair to be 'not adjustable" enough. This was the case for me with the arms on the chair. They just didn't go down far enough for me to comfortably rest my arms on them while sitting at the computer. The main "problem" however as I saw in other reviews was the "front edge" of the bottom seat pad - when you sit down on the mesh it "sinks" below the foam cushioning under your thighs and the "firm" ridge over time can cut off some circulation to your legs. I good chair and a great price but probably better for some people than others.
The chair feels great on my back. Very comfortable. It is difficult however to get the chair to move into different directions as the castors don't spin well on the base of the chair. Joe Nuccio
