Being 6'3" tall and 210 Lbs, I have trouble finding chairs that fit "just-tall guy". Like with clothing, very few sellers offer just-tall. Don't get me wrong, this is definitely a big and tall chair. However, it is fully adjustable so it doesn't feel like I am swimming in it. This also allows me to get closer to my desk because I can lower the arms below the desk. This helps my posture. While I miss my old executive big and tall chair, I do like the adjustable lumbar support on this one. Great chair. Very sturdy. Would recommend.
This is regarding the new XL Hyken. The seat is large and the foam cushion is supportive. Assembly is fairly easy, but i feel like the chair just comes short of what it could be.
1:Tilt. I could not find a way to tilt the chair forward. The most forward of the 3 tilt options is literally still a recline. The chair NEEDS to be able to properly support someone wanting to sit at a 90 degree angle, when I sit on it, it instead feels very reclined. I have a feeling the designers of this chair simply thought of comfortable recline positions, but not positions to actually use your PC from. Not everyone likes being slumped back in their chair as they use their pc. Adding a way to simply tilt the chair more forward would make this an infinitely better product, and it's a shame to see something so simple ruin it for its ONE purpose.
2: The lumbar support needs a lock-In function. It easily shifts during use. What is the point of using lumbar support if putting pressure on it lowers it over time?
3: the tilt tension is too low, and takes far too many turns. turning is very tiring on the hand.
I intend to return this chair and seek one from a non-staples brand. I would have probably kept it if at bare minimum, the tilt had an upright lock-in setting. If staples can see this review, and i simply didnt notice the proper way to tilt the chair, *please let me know*. But if there is no way to tilt the chair upright, and you are receiving many returns of the hyken XL, this IS why.
Great chair for those over 6’1”. Sits high for those only 5’11” or less. But add a foot rest and will provide proper ergonomics and adjustable arm support. Like the large cushion seat and vented back.
I’m happy with the office chair… however, not happy with the “MISSING PARTS” required for assembly!!! Several necessary “screws” for properly assembly and functioning of the chair arms WERE MISSING from the parts kit… of course I managed to find my own reasonable replacement screws in order to assemble my chair… it was a nuisance… but I chose not to go through the delay and hassle of returning the chair I purchased. I’m disappointed! What if anything is staples going to do about this mishap???
I would recommend this to a friend!
