Duracell batteries are no longer trustworthy
on December 24, 2019

I have bought Duracell Coppertop Alkaline batteries for years, paying more than for other brands. Lately they have an annoying habit of leaking, even while in their original packaging and well before expiration dates. I have a lot of batteries I am going to throw out as I search for another brand. I have complained to the company, in response to which I have been asked a number of questions about original packaging and where and when I bought my batteries. I don't have all the information, only the batteries that have not expired but have leaked.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

LEAKING ALL OVER BY 2019 FOR DEC 2024 EXPIRY
on December 19, 2019

Bought several packages of these AA and AAA Coppertops and it's supposed to be good until DEC 2024. This month, (Dec 2019), almost all of them, are leaking like crazy, still in their original unopened packages and the ones I am already using on remoter controls, LCD displays and clocks. All of them has varying degrees of leaks. And the package says they're all "Made in the USA."??

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great battery for my light up decorations. I forget to shut them off some nights. These batteries go for many hours. What can I say, Duracell last much longer than any other!! Great for the grandchild's toys that run job stop also.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Corrosion

I thought they would last and not have problems but in a dry drawer in the package they were corroded after a few months. I have some older packages of Rayovac and they still are in great condition. Not so happy when I pay more to get something better.

AAA 16-Pack All Leaking
on December 7, 2019

AAA 16-Pack guaranteed to last until 2024. Today is 07 Dec 2019 and 8 remaining batteries in original packaging are all leaking. One is completely broken open at top. Several were leaking in devices but got them out before devices were ruined, but had to clean contacts. So 0 for 16 batteries probably made it halfway to guaranty year.

Leaking and corrosion issues
on November 23, 2019

I have purchased and used Duracell batteries all my life on the premise that paying a little extra I could get a quality product. I never had a problem with corrosion ever. Many times batteries would be in use for years without leakage. Then I noticed that Duracell batteries I was using came from China and I also took notice to excessive leaking and corrosion, often when the batteries had only been in use a short time. Often the leaking batteries had dates for shelf life for years. They have not only ruined ordinary flashlights but also expensive cameras, remotes, computer equipment, etc. I will now be changing to another brand any brand will be better than Duracell.

Leaking batteries

Leaking batteries are ruining my equipment. I was employed by the company that owned Duracell back in the 80's so I always was a fan. BUT, it seems lately I'm having more battery operated equipment ruined because of leaking battery acid. NOT A FAN ANYMORE.

Getting tired of cleaning up after the leaks!
on November 14, 2019

I have been using Duracell batteries for many.. many years and up until the last 5 or so years had no real problems. Lately I've been getting cells that claim to be good for several years of storage, but tend to leak new in the package or make a mess of expensive equipment because of leaking. These are not just the regular copper tops, but also the "commercial" grade red tops as well. I've been switching over to the Panasonic "Eneloop" rechargeables with remarkable success and long term storage. I guess Panasonic have actually been improving their products over the years rather than just claiming to with different packaging. If you want to buy these batteries cheaper than the MSRP, buy the Costco Kirkland brand.. Duracell makes them! Just without the copper top shrink wrap label.. they tend to leak just as much though :(
