Timer knob breaks
on October 24, 2023

We love the oven but we've had the timer button break twice. The first oven we just replaced with a new oven. The second one was only 3 months old and we returned it because it was still under warranty. I wish they would fix the knobs.

A step up from the rest

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Feels well built. It’s the perfect size for cooking just about anything except a turkey. Cooks things really really fast and heats extremely evenly. The air fryer setting is really no different than the standard convection setting. There is only a timer; no constant on setting. It gets untouchably hot on all sides except the front panel (excluding the glass). The crumb/drip tray is easy to remove and clean. The timer knob doesn’t turn easily and is even harder to turn backwards to turn it off. Also, it holds the heat inside for quite a while after it shuts off.
I would recommend this to a friend!

3rd replacement on its way…

This air fryer oven was a replacement to another GE toaster oven, which was much better, but which also died within warranty. This toaster oven only lasted about six weeks! The knobs have no grip on them so they are extremely slippery and after only a couple week usage, the knob broke off the stem. GE is sending yet a third replacement. I would never get this one again.

Broken Timer knob
on July 27, 2024

I've loved my GE Mechanical Air Fry 7-in-1 Toaster Oven from the day i got it as a gift. The only issue I had was the flimsy knobs and the inability to shut off the timer if the food was ready before the timer stopped. Well, i knew it was too good to be true! This week I turned the timer knob and it just kept spinning. It fell off in my hands and no matter what we did, we could not reattach it as the plastic is cracked/melted. Now that I read all the reviews and scan all the websites, i see that this is a common problem and there are no replacement parts for the knob. As much as I enjoyed my oven, it's useless without a working knob.

Horrible Timer Knob ( REALLY Poor quality )

It takes less than 3 months of use ( moderate use) for the timer knob to brake off. Now the appliance is useless. Buy it at your own risks. I buy the appliance because I trust the GE brand name. Now I think GE stands for Garbage Electronic.

Avoid if you can! Timer knob broke after only 2 months. Tried to get replacement parts with no avail. This shouldn’t happen so early. Very disappointed cause other than that it works well.

Limited Temperature Capability

Selected the 7-in-1 mechanical model based on preferring a basic, non-digital control product with the expectation they'll last longer. Heated oven to condition heating elements as recommended (1hr @350F). Using calibrated temperature gauge, Bake mode does not go above 325F. Roast and Air Fry mode does track better but can still be off by 30-40F. Initial cook of leftovers and carrots in 5x7 pyrex at 350F/Bake mode left carrots (half moon, 3/8 thick slices) still hard after 1 full hour. This is not a 450F device. Recommend always using gauge when cooking and only use the fan based modes especially if using both the baking and wire racks at the same time. Also, basket received bent, had to bend back into shape. Baking rack wire gauge fairly thin. Overall, seems oven only hits approximate temperature using modes that engage the fan. Would not buy again. This purchase replaced a competitor's older countertop model which lasted over 15yr.
