Almost perfect

Purchased the first one back in February and after a little over 900 rounds the dot died. Steiner's excellent customer service sent me a new one under warranty so I currently have about 500 rounds through this one. Love the window size and the sleek almost futuristic look. I would have preferred a 2032 battery as it's easier to find and would share batteries with my other red dots and scopes. Also, I don't like that I lose some brightness if I turn off the auto shut off feature.
It is still a very nice RDS and I understand why the features I complain about are there. After all that, I purchased a 2nd one as back up.

Incredibly tough and Great Company

This is my new favorite pistol optic. It is incredibly tough and mounts solid to my ACRO cut slide. The glass is super clear and blocks reflections well. The original instructions were a little difficult to follow but they listened to customer feedback and improved their user manual and website.

I been testing this out for a few days. I tell you its tuff. It holds the zero perrfect no matter how rough you are on it. And I have been rough on it! Very happy so far. It lives up to the name.

Significant under performance at this price.

This would be a 5 star optic if the price was 1/3 of the msrp, but this should perform equally to what the market offers at the same price point. The quality of the dot itself if nice, but the outer housing wears prematurely, it's partially metal and partially plastic. The black finish on the exposed housing screws has worn off after less than a year of occasional use. The rear lens has developed a haze. It appears to be the early stages of delamination. The adjustment buttons are tactile but very small and extremely difficult to click, especially under stress. The battery life is bar-none the worst out of every RDS I've ever owned. The battery lasts 2-3 months on a medium brightness compared to 2 years on a dot from a reputable competitor. Lastly, my unit is completely dead and unresponsive after light range usage and sitting in a safe. Maybe I received a bad unit, so I will edit once I can get a new unit and evaluate it.
For reference, I shoot 3 - 4 thousand rounds per year of 9mm.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Low profile with a large window allows for quick acquisition of the dot. The dot it crisp and has multiple brightness adjustments.

Overall a Solid Optic

I’ve used the MPS for a little over a year now for work as a patrol deputy. Optic has survived several fights with suspects where all my weight was placed on my holster. I’ve had around 3k rounds through it with zero issue. No loss of zero, no fogging, no cracks, nothing. I’ve deducted 1 star simply because I do wish the optic could get a little brighter. Not a fan of the 13 hour auto off, which you can disable however, if disabled, you lose your top brightness setting. My other issue is that the battery life could be a little bit better as compared to other enclosed emitter optics. I do have to change the battery roughly every 3 months. Overall, the Steiner MPS is a solid contender for best enclosed emitter. I’m a big fan of the 3.3 moa dot, the emitter used appears to be high quality as the dot is crisp. Lack of a noticeable notch filter is always nice. The robustness and durability of the optic is probably what surprised me the most. Mine has been through quite a bit and it still keeps on trucking. Overall, I would honestly recommend the MPS even over the ACRO simply due to value and availability.

I currently own the MPS and it has functioned flawlessly. I changed the battery this week after almost a year of ownership. I own several Red Dots , the clarity of the lens is outstanding. I currently have it on my Walther PDP and have over 5,000 rounds through the pistol and this optic has held up great.
