While living in rural areas, I've depended on multiple Tripp Lite Line Conditioner products to keep -all- my electronics safe, especially from brown outs and local lightning strikes. Now that I'm living in the city, I've switched to this less elaborate surge protector, since my line conditioners have not given any "alarms" in the 2.5 years, I'm here. So, I'm very pleased to be protected - with less expense. The one downside: I'm -still- confused by the -red- LED which indicates that everything is okay! This conflicts with -everything- previous, so I've had to read the instructions over-and-over again - to be sure (and, !'m still not - to be honest!). However, since I use my line conditioners at other sockets, I was able to test out the new socket in question - to confirm things are, indeed-- alright. I stay with Tripp Lite because I believe they have rock solid technology, since everything hooked up to them have been exceptionally long lived.

TropLite surge protector is so reliable, I have all the plugs connected to laptops, mobile chargers, desk lamp, exterior lightings etc., It is able to withstand as many appliances we add to it. No sign of heating. The 7ft cord is so useless in case of mine. The side plugs will help at times in need.
