The Canon Speedlite EL-10 is a recent flash that is compatible with the newer Canon mirrorless cameras. Having recently purchased a refurbished EOS R7, I needed a flash for some of the events I shoot. The EL-10 is compact, lightweight, easy to use and by setting a dedicated flash exposure compensation button on my camera, it did a great job when I needed outdoor fill flash for a birthday party. It also worked well for the few indoor photos I needed at the same event.

Canon Speedlite EL-10 just works, the new style pins work with the newer Canon cameras for better communication between the camera and the flash.

Absolutely Blown Away - I Did Not Know What I've Been Missing

This thing is simply amazing. I had know idea what I was missing until I bought this speedlite. The subtle details and beautiful skin tones that are revealed when using this accessory are just amazing. I recently took photos for my daughter's graduation party, outdoors. The difference between photos with and without the flash are night and day. I have always just been a guy with a camera, but with this speedlite, It almost makes me look like I know what I'm doing. I am using this on an R50 and getting amazing results. Do take the time to read the manual and watch a few videos on technique, it is worth the investment of time to get superior results.

Good flash, but....

After just over a year and only using it a handful of times the LCD display displays nothing. Just a green screen. The flash itself still works, so I will keep it of course, but I'm disappointed that I cannot change any of the flash settings and must accept whatever flash comes out. For regular everyday stuff it's still perfectly fine, but the defect in the flash is disappointing after such a short time/little bit of use. Of course, the warranty is expired so I'm SOL. My next flash however, will probably be another brand.
