I bought this chair a month ago, for my 99 year old father. He needed to sit on a chair that was really comfortable. Unfortunately, this chair cushion is a little stiff (maybe it's more comfortable if you weigh more and push it down more). And we have to put an extra cushion on the back, because it leans too far back for him -- he needed a back seat that was more straight up and down, and a seat that wasn't so deep. His requirements were pretty specific, and there was no way to "try" them out in advance. So we are pretty disappointed in the chair, but it probably is fine for general use, just not so great for him.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Our church bought these chairs about 12 years ago. The old chairs show the gold vein. The new chairs have a vein, but just look black on the legs and metal parts. No gold shows on the metal. The chair seats and backs are a lighter brown. Overall, they match fairly well. Apparently the product has changed some over the years.
