Versatile Smoothie Blender (Hamilton Beach)

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Hamilton Beach Smoothie Blender is a versatile machine that will make you the juice bar barista of your household! The one-piece plastic blending jar is a solid but light-weight plastic, far lighter than heavier glass units. It’s 56 Oz (1.68L) capacity is great for preparing a range of beverages for family or friends over single-serving blenders. It’s variable high/low 10 speeds are paired with practical descriptors for whatever you’re trying to use it for. It easy to create your beverage of choice; fruit/milk smoothies and milkshakes were easy to prepare. I liked testing it’s ice crush pulse setting, making powdered snow/ice crystals out of the large ice cubes I fed it in seconds. Ice Crush is an important setting for those sunny afternoons. This compact blender punches above its weight for a smoothie blender and you’ll enjoy how easy it is to clean.

Great Smoothie Maker!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Short version: This smoothie maker worked GREAT! It had no problem blending up ice and frozen fruit.
Long version:
Unpacking: Easy to unbox - only two pieces to unbox. Paperwork included had important safeguards clearly written and easy to understand. Instructions for use were also clear and understandable, although it would be nice to have the "How to Use" and "Blender Tips" information combined in the paperwork. There were no recipes included in the paperwork or on the box, so I had to go to the Hamilton Beach website to find my first recipe.
Measuring: I appreciate the measuring marks on the blending jar, and also - surprising bonus - on the filler cap. Will be easy to add measured amounts of nuts, powder, chocolate chips, etc.
Cord Storage: I thought when I first looked at the cord storage, that this was going to be the most intelligent cord storage I'd ever seen! There is a round wrap-around space that has "teeth" to grip and hold the cord in place. But - there was no place to secure the plug. So, the plug remains a bumpy irritation on the bottom of the appliance when it's not plugged in.
Operation: Wow - I'd only ever owned blenders, that never quite got ingredients moved around enough to blend completely. This appliance is FANTASTIC! It really worked! I put in the ingredients in the order listed on the recipe. I used juice, bananas, yogurt, frozen strawberries and a few ice cubes. I used the Low - Pulse setting a few times. Then I used the Smoothie setting for about 20 seconds. Amazing! Everything was blended perfectly. I even used a spoon to check for chunks of unblended ice or fruit - none! And the pour spout is well-designed - the thick smoothie poured into my glass accurately - no spills or mess. I am surprised that the blades don't come out of the blender jar for cleaning, but it will be easy to clean in the dishwasher (instructions state not to use the "Sani" high heat setting).
I love this smoothie maker, and I'm thinking of so many ways to use it. I may never use my blender again!

Practical, inexpensive good blender

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This blender is good for making smoothies, protein shakes or other creamy drinks. It is light weight and is decently powerful, which makes it a good go to for every day use. The buttons are easy to use. It is stable and does not "travel" on the counter while blending. It is easy to clean either by hand or in the dishwasher.

Good motor, bad execution

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love the look and over all design, however, performance is definitely not good. I tried to make a milk shake, crush ice and lightly chop an onion. The milk shake wouldn't mix, ice did not move and the onion was a mushy mess in the middle while whole pieces didn't move. The motor is very powerful though.

Excellent for smoothies

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love my blender. My sons girlfriend wanted to make smoothies. So we got frozen fruit yogurt and ice. Yhe smoothies were perfect. It blended in no time. We've only used it twice for smoothies. I also used it to make a garlic butter mix. The mis was creamy and again blended quicky and seamlessly. I think I'll try pasta sauce next.

I was disappointed that no recipes or care instructions were included. I’ve only used it to make smoothies but I imagine that it will also do milkshakes, some soups, and egg nog. It is lightweight.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This product was purchased primarily for smoothie making. We needed a blender that can take a beating and continue working and this blender fit the bill.
We anxiously waited for this unit to come in and couldn't wait to blend our first smoothie in the family kitchen. The first time, I made the smoothie myself as the kids weren't home and the second time and forward made them with the kids.
It is very easy to use - add the ingredients and press the smoothie button! Done... Pour into glass and enjoy :)
