The XP20R is very versatile. Besides having multiple lighting intensity, it is well built and can be used in different environments . Sometimes using low intensity light is all you need to not give a position away or save you night vision . The highest intensity light is great for finding small or partially hidden objects .The power left indicators help with decisions on the mix of lusage and will keep ou from being left with a depleted light. I would imagine it would be great to use in caves . Or keep in your car to temporally light up a person if they come up to your car . It is a medium sized flashlight and rechargeable. I recommend it .
Great texture.. far as holding onto the flashlight

Bought this flashlight 2 weeks ago... very impressive.... very bright!!! I like the modes on the flashlight as well. Most I ever use is medium mode. It has alot of flood even when focused. Have a few concerns though.. the on and off button is hard to feel for in the dark. Wish the button was more pronounced or had some more texture that you could feel it more on the fingers. One time I tried turning it on and kept pressing the rechargeable port. They feel much the same. Just thinking about if I was in a stressful situation I don't want to fumbling around trying to find off on switch in the dark. That's my only major complaint. The other is I just wish it had more through with a tighter beam. As far as size this is as big I want to go for a flashlight. Th weight is good and it feels solid and the quality is their!!! Hope you keep this model in your inventory from now on and just make some minor improvements. I love Coast flashlights and have a quite a few models. I get a great tool that I can rely on for years to come. So keep making great products and just improve the texture on the on and off switch and give some throw and I definitely buy it again I am sure!!! Can you have to many flashlights? Lol!!
I had the chance to field-test this flashlight, and let me tell you—I put it through the wringer. Right out of the box, I wanted to see if it could live up to the hype, and not only did it deliver, but it made the whole experience effortless and enjoyable.
First up, I used it around the house and outdoors for a few days, and it handled both like a champ. The brightness settings and beam distance are seriously impressive—you get all the visibility you need, whether you’re lighting up a dark trail or just trying to find that one thing you dropped behind the couch. Plus, the built-in power bank? A lifesaver when you forget to charge other essentials.
Then came the real test, I took it to work in the oil field, where conditions go freezing cold, with dust, grease, oil, water, ice, snow and darkness all thrown in for good measure. This flashlight didn’t just survive it thrived. The different brightness and focus settings were incredibly useful, whether I needed a powerful beam for distant inspections or a soft glow for reading prints. And durability? Absolute beast mode. It shrugged off impacts, moisture, and grime like it was nothing.
Battery life is another huge win. After a full week of daily use, I never had to recharge it once. It just kept going like the Energizer Bunny but way cooler. I also love the extra battery adapter it comes with so you can use AA batteries if needed.(DIDNT NEED AT ALL)
If you need a tough, reliable, and ridiculously useful flashlight, this is the one.
Only Con I have it is a little bulky but now have it as my daily flashlight for work and I bought one with my money to keep at home!
This flashlight was sent to me to field test, and I'm thrilled to try it out and give an honest review. I have had it for a few weeks now and have been blown away by the power the light produces, even at the lower levels. I have been testing this for daily use, such as walking the dog at night and entering properties without power. I have been very impressed with the ability to light up the entire yard at night or an entire room when completely dark. It's larger than a pocket flashlight, but I still grab it for daily needs.
I have been using the light regularly and have not had to recharge it once. The LED top can get hot with extended use, but this has not been a problem. This body of the light seems tough and would be great for a tactical defense role with its crowned top edge. Overall, I've been very impressed and will continue to use this regularly.
This flashlight was sent to me as a field test. As with all of my other 30+ Coast flashlights, this flashlight does not disappoint. After opening the package and feeling the heft of it in my hands, i knew it was top quality machining. All of the details were well thought out from the o-ring in the butt cap to the LEDs used. The lens shroud on mine had a few sharp edges on the scallops. No biggie but could potentially cut you if you were scrounging around in your backpack trying to find it.
The MoonGlow™ feature is awesome when you need a tad bit of light but over a large area. The power button has a very nice tactile feel to it. It weighs 12.9oz with the Zithion-X battery and 11.9oz with Amazon alkaline. The turbo mode lasts 40sec and automatically goes back to the mode it was in before turbo was activated. The barrel behind the lens head started to heat up but nothing to be worried about. I like the pinpoint focus on so many of my other Coast flashlights and headlamps. The XP20R took a little bit to get used to. After using it for over a week, it started growing on me. When I need to put some serious light in a big area, that's where this flashlight comes in. It's like you have the power of the sun in your hands. I like the twist lock and slide focus as you can fine tune the beam from flood to spot.
Overall I am very well pleased that Coast is offering such a beast for an awesome price. Absolutely the best warranty in the business and they stand behind it. I have been buying Coast products for almost 25 years and will continue.
I've been using the XP20R flashlight for a while now, and it’s easily one of the best flashlights I’ve owned. The combination of power, durability, and useful features makes it a great investment. The 4,000-lumen output is incredibly bright, and the SLIDE FOCUS™ with beam lock lets me easily switch between a wide flood and a focused beam. I also really appreciate the built-in power bank—it’s come in handy more than once when my phone was running low on battery.
Durability-wise, this flashlight feels solid and well-built. The IP54 rating gives me confidence that it can handle dust and light rain without any issues. The anti-roll tail cap is a nice touch, especially when working in uneven areas or outdoors. Overall, the XP20R is a great all-around flashlight, whether you need it for work, emergencies, or outdoor adventures. Highly recommend!
