This is the most poorly designed refrigerator we have EVER owned!
After buying it (with a 3 year service warranty) we have had the compressor replaced twice, the motor replaced twice, and the main circuit board replaced once.
Finally we gave up, called it the piece of garbage it was and asked for a refund due to the implied warranty being violated due to a design flaw.
LG makes great TV's, but they need to rethink major appliances like refrigerators before we'll buy anything like this again!
Pros: $2000 paper weight

Not your grandma's refrigerator

Overall, this product is such a step up from the older refrigerators I've used it's just amazing. Every time I open the door and look inside, I have to marvel. I expect to enjoy using this appliance for a long time. I have a couple of quibbles but I'm still very pleased having made the purchase.
The door caddies are not as easy to use as they might appear. They are 3-1/2 inches tall and that keeps things from falling out...but it also means that you have to lift things up and over. The clearance from one to another only looks generous when they are empty. Tall items take some maneuvering. You can store an unopened bottle of wine in the door, but a partial bottle with stopper or cork sticking up won't fit. The door caddies cannot be immersed in water to clean them -- water will get inside the left & right ends which are combo clear plastic and opaque white. They would trap water and soap residue.
With regard to positioning of door caddies, there are too few options for adjusting up and down. Back to the wine bottle thing -- if only I could get one more inch of clearance it would work.
I like the slide-out shelves and wanted to move one side down a notch to make room for taller things. However, when I emptied and removed one shelf, suddenly the other shelf (which was loaded with food) shifted sideways and appeared unstable...perhaps the pair of sliding shelves must be on the same level to support each other? I had trouble getting the shelf back in place so haven't tried it again but at some future time I'll call customer service for tips on how to move them.
The fruit & vegetable bins are great, as well as the narrow middle drawer -- that's where an open wine bottle usually ends up. The deli drawer is very useful. I love the lights being up front where they easily illuminate all the way into the back.
The freezer section is constructed exactly the way I wanted with a generous bottom drawer that is easily accessible. The top slide-out shelf is quite handy for small items and I like the little tip-out shelf on the door. By choice my ice maker is disabled so I have no comment about that feature.
My last and final quibble is that the front is not magnetic so I can't post reminder notices or photos or cartoons. On the other hand, it looks nice and tidy without the bulletin board look. This appliance dresses up my kitchen with its sleek design. The handles provide a solid grip and when the door closes with a definite "whumph" I KNOW it is sealed.
The refrigerator has been installed for approximately 60 days. Performance has been satisfactory in every way.

Ice is a problem, Ice "Plus" a bigger one

It's month number two and I am on the second refrigerator. The "Ice Plus" feature, when pressed (supposed to make ice quicker) ends up disabling the refrigerator (the compressor stops). When you unlplug the refrigerator and plug it back in, it works again (not the ice plus, just the refrigerator). So, they (the dealer) replaced the entire refrigerator (the first one) on the third day, with a new one - and now the second refrigerator is doing the same thing, and also the ice-maker just stopped working. I love the looks and features, the refrigerator just doesn't work. Fortunately, I bought from a great dealer and they are sticking with me to repair, exchange (again) or get a different brand.

Almost perfect

I've owned this refrigerator for three months. I am very happy with it so far. The interior is spacious, the motor runs very quietly, and I find it easy to see and find things.
I have just two redesign suggestions: 1) In order to use the full-width, bottommost drawer on the frig, I have to open both of the french doors. I've never needed to store anything in that compartment that is wider than half of that drawer (this is such a large refrigerator already). I wish it came with a configuration that had two side-by-side compartments that would allow access by opening just one of the french doors.
2) Opening the freezer drawer seems to let all the cold spill out. I think a side-skirt or apron that would keep the cold air from flowing out onto the floor would be an improvement.
I would strongly recommend this refrigerator to my friends. -JM

Nice fridge, ice maker sub par

We have had this refrigerator since 4-2012. We love everything about it except the ice maker. For some reason the ice still has a plastic taste to it. We have thrown out scores of ice in the hopes that the smell will eventually go away but no luck. We have had two Arm and Hammer boxes of baking powder in the ice door since we bought it but no luck in getting rid of the plastic taste. The refrigerator is excellent other than the ice issues. It is beautfiul, functions well, has nice features, and we are happy with it overall (not considering the horrible tasting ice).

Love my Fridge!

I've had this fridge for 2 months now, and simply LOVE it! My old side-by-side was the same cubic feet as this one, but the French door configuration leaves so much more room in both the refrigerator and freezer sections. I was quite impressed. It runs very quietly and only makes ice when I need it. The temperature stays constant and so far, no frost or ice buildup in the freezer. The only drawback for me is that I would've liked one split-shelf in the fridge section so I could put tall bottles upright. Other models have this and it would be a nice feature for this one. Overall, I'm very pleased with my purchase and would recommend this fridge. Thank you, LG for a fine product!

Good size, lots of room

I can store a lot of food in this fridge. The adjustable shelves are great for tall bottles of juice or wine. I have had a problem with the right door not closing tight - and the alarm does not sound off. It is only open an inch, something that you don't even notice. I've learned to always push the door, just to make sure it is closed. Same thing with the freezer.. you need to push it shut, it doesn't self close. The lower drawer can be a pain in the butt because the French doors need to be opened in order to open it. I have the stainless steel front and it has taken me awhile to learn how to clean it and to keep fingerprints to a minimum (works most times), and I really like it now. I was ready to pitch it because it always looked dirty. Wish the stainless steel was magnetic. Miss having things on the front of it!
