I didn’t really look at the calendar this year before purchasing. And if I had, I likely wouldn’t have purchased. We prefer the scenes that have come in the past. My daughter even commented that the scenes were better because you could play with it afterwards. She enjoys building and we are displaying on a tree but after Christmas, the pieces have no real use which is disappointing.

Thank you for your review. This year, we’ve done something a little different with the LEGO® Friends Advent Calendar to make it more festive. Friends fans will get 24 buildable ornaments, including decorations, to represent each of the five friends from Heartlake City. Each ornament is designed in a way that you can pull a string through and hang it around your home or on your Christmas tree.
Because the builds this year are ornaments, the design of the box is flipped. Instead of having a playmat for the builds like in the past years, the flap is on top so you can open it each day and build that day’s ornament. We can see how this would cause confusion since the advent calendars in the past were designed differently.
We know the calendars are a holiday favourite for many families. We listen to every bit of feedback we get about them to help us figure out what works and what doesn’t, so I’m passing on your feedback to the relevant teams.

Disappointing.

We buy various LEGO advent calendars for the kids every year and have never had one that did not contain mini-figures. The lack of minifigures in this set is very disappointing.

My 12 yo daughter loved it!

First off I'm not a big fan of the Lego Friends minifigures so the fact that there were none didn't bother me. But the value is superb! 24 (TWENTY-FOUR) ornaments. Everyday was a new buildable LEGO ornament. I really don't get the negative reviews. I wish LEGO did a set like this every Christmas. I know there are books on making LEGO ornaments and DIYs, but parts for those aren't always available and you sometimes have to order from multiple sites. But 24 LEGO ornaments in one box! SOLD. Great value and will be used every year and hopefully added to next year!

Divided opinions!

With hindsight, this seems to have been a brave move from TLG- The spread of opinions between one star and five is extraordinary. I'm throwing my hat in because I really liked it- The builds show imagination and are very keep-able. This is very much more an advent calendar than the tired old Star Wars concept where we just get a bunch of micro-builds that are very much the same as last year, and the year before, and the year before that. I can see that TLG is struggling to keep the advent calendar theme going and wish you luck in finding a formula that works for everybody.

We absolutely love this calendar set! My five year old wakes up every morning to find her surprise in the box. After putting it together, she likes to put it on our tree. I also love the ornament idea!

We have had at least one lego advent calendar every year. For the last bunch of years Friends has been one of them. THIS IS THE BEST ONE EVER! I have teens that have loved lego since birth and are lifetime Lego people (like their parents). So tired of the little trinket legos in these sets. My kids as old as they are will still build and play but certainly never loved the trinkets except for a few possible ones (and so many of the mini-figs weren't "Christmasy" enough) after the advent season and they sit in the big trinket box that accumulated ...as I have MANY. This set was awesome. Both girls got a tree in their room and they have split the ornaments. They loved taking turns on this advent (we had 3 this year) and said they need more so they hope they do the same thing next year! They said they wish there were ornaments every year and it could be their mini lego ornament collection for their personal trees. Keep doing this PLEASE!

My daughters built one small item every day in Dec till Xmas. Every evening, they were eagerly waiting for the moment to build the new one and discover the new item they built. After finished the item, they put a string through the hole in the item and hung it on the Xmas tree.

My son LOVES this set!

My 6 year-old son selected this as his advent calendar this year. He loves the mystery of finding what's behind every door. The builds can be a little difficult for him at times because it is just the one picture, but that means that we get to work on them together. I think he is a little disappointed to not have any mini-dolls yet, but he does love the idea of making his own ornaments to hang on the tree. He loves the colors and the variety of the builds.
