I have exclusively owned a Presto coffee percolator for the last 34 years. My first one lasted about 15 years, But since then, I’ve had to buy one about every 2 to 3 years. I have purchased three in the last year or so. I have had trouble getting good coffee from all three of these pots. One I gave to my daughter, one I kept for myself and I gave the other one to my father and all three pots are not perking the coffee long enough. We have been using the same coffee for 34 years and I am well aware of how to clean and take care of a percolator. The pot is spotless every time I use it.
I also wish that the basket was bigger so that the grinds would not spill out into the coffee. If you make more than 6 cups, you’re going to have a pot full of grinds.

Using wraparound filters will help contain the grounds from spilling into the coffee. Although it's not mandatory that you use them, it does help the clarity of the coffee.

I have owned this Percolator for about 15 years and love it for it's ability to make strong, full bodied, full flavor coffee. Occasionally I would get a weak pot and that would lead to cleaning, stretching the tube spring and suspecting my new bag of coffee. I have learned two things. 1) don't overfill the basket. And most recently, 2) my machine would perk for about 12 minutes with tap water from my sink. With three coffee mugs of ice cubes in the pot and then filled with water, it perks for 14.5 minutes. Great Coffee! So the perk time is adjustable by how cold the water is. It wish it was in the instructions.

We purchased this to get away from bleeched filters and love it's all stainless steel. The coffee is how we remember it when we were younger. So much better than those modern day coffee machines. We enjoy our coffee again. It's incredible that after it's made, just unplug it and it will stay hot for several hours. You have no clue what you are missing, not drinking this coffee. We are so glad they still make this.

Brews the best cup of coffee we've had from a percolator. The secret is to use cold water from the refrigerator. That way the percolation time is around 14 minutes. Well made product. Would definitely recommend it!!!

Be aware the the perk well is Aluminum

I bought this a few months ago. For elegance, function, and coffee flavor I would have given it a 10 review if it were possible until I discovered it had an aluminum perk well. This company is not transparent about this! Nowhere does it mention anything about the aluminum well. They make it sound like the entire thing is stainless steel. Probably because they know they would sell less of them for people worried about aluminum. If this is a food grade aluminum, and or with a food grade coating to prevent leaching, they could easily add this in so people are not blindsided and feel comfortable with it. Since they do not do this, it makes it questionable whether this food grade or not. So, just be aware before you buy this. I only gave it a three star due the lack of transparency, which leads to the question: is this a deceitful practice to ensure higher sales??

Aluminum part

I am not happy that this percolator has an aluminum part as a heating element that would leach aluminum into my coffee. The company is not totally transparent with consumers, falsaly claiming that that is stainless steel.

We are not trying to be deceitful. We are sorry you feel this way. We use aluminum for the perk well for best heating capabilities. The body, spout, basket and perk tube are all stainless steel.

Grrrrrr, I ordered this product because it stated it was 100% stainless steel. I just received the percolator only to find out it's not! Why can't companies take some responsibility and producing clean, healthy products? The comments below from Presto "we didn't mean to be deceitful, aluminum is better for heating"
