Great Potential unrealized

I bought this device for competitive juniors so they can practice at home without using the Wifi connection. I do not like having Wifi connection for extended periods of time. As such this is an all-in one device I thought I could minimize that. But later realized that is true only to a point. The provided driving range options could be vastly improved as it is not gamified enough to hold attention of juniors (the range is not junior friendly). Awesome golf works but it requires gaming laptop or mobile device and a wifi and wifi hotspot. So it defeats my original purpose of eliminating Wifi. Not sure why as there is a USB connection but it is only there for software updates not to transfer data from simulator to Awesome golf. I think this is short sighted. This is huge disappointment for me. Also, all the courses provided look exactly the same. Almost all local courses in phoenix are either not properly represented or do not have junior tees. So kids are being forced to play 400-500 yards, which is not fun. Furthermore, the software glitches (I have quite a few examples and videos). All in all it is great concept, but when you contrast value to price, it comes short.

Putting has issues

Great product for just having fun playing Home tee Hero in the simulator. Inconsistent ball alignment, putting launch angles, and no putting practice mode is not what I expected for 5K. It makes me sad

Wonderful Tool!

The R50 has so much data, it’s sometimes overwhelming trying to focus on just one. Graphics are great, and data is spot on! I just wish the slow motion impact video would last a little longer, and be clearer, but this is not the camera they use on the PGA.This is a great tool to really get serious about ball flight, angles, and spin. The courses are a lot of fun to play. If you want distance, don’t hit it into the rough!

I really enjoy my R50. I do wish for one update or improvement. Please add a practice putting green with adjustable stimp and slope. Ex. 20' putt that I set at a 3% slope. The R50 then calculates the aim point above the hole. I putt to the aim point with the correct speed and line and make the putt. All other features are doing great so far. Thanks

Bold leap forward for Garmin in launch monitors

This is a bold leap; in graphics user interface and flexibility - that is a revolutionary step for launch monitors. In accuracy, it is large step for Garmin. But it is missing a few details in this leap; PUTTING does not have same capabilities as others in its price range; the USB-C port is not powered, and a few other minor tweaks. Potentially game changing.

Still wondering

This is my second attempt at the R50 and it's still not reading all that correctly. The first one I received wasn't reading correctly at all and I had to return it. I'll give this one a better shot at it but I'm not that convinced that this one is better, we'll see said the blind man.

Needs a Putting Practice Mode

Rock solid launch monitor, easy to use, simplifies golf sim setup. Putting was a key buying decision, needs a practice green or putting mini games to promote game improvement. Putting in HTH seems mostly random.

Exceptionally well made

The R50 is well made. Although I was worried about it getting broken by a bad shot, so I custom made my own protective case. It works great for my sim but I do notice on my wedge shots it doesn’t always read it which can be a bit annoying, and the courses would be great with more detail on the surroundings of the course on HomeTee to be more realistic. The course layout is on point and the shots are accurate in my opinion. All in all I’m satisfied with my purchase. I am definitely looking forward to see what the future holds with Garmin.
