I decided to replace our Fry Daddy with this Cuisinart fryer because I wanted to be able to control the oil temperature. It works great and I would give a 5 rating except for two things. It takes longer to come to temperature than I had expected; so I would suggest starting your fryer a bit earlier than you might have thought. Also, it takes a full gallon of oil to fill, so that can get a bit pricey.

Great size for a family of 6. Heats fast, maintains temperature while cooking and has quick temp recovery. The timer is a great feature if you juggle while cooking or have easily distracted teenagers that also love to cook.

The fryer has a problem with the thermostat.
If you set it at 350 the oil temperature is actually around 440. This will trip the safety shut off making it very hard to use. I used a digital thermometer and at 275 the oil is actually at 365. I would expect a brand like Cuisinart would have better quality control. Tried to connect customer service and it took them 5 days to correspond.

This is the one to buy. Easy to clean and perfect size for family 2-4 people.
Never buy a fryer less than 4 quart if you want to cook evenly and efficiently. Never buy a fryer that heats from the bottom. You can google why.
