THE 6 YEAR OLD SD CARD THAT REFUSES TO FAIL.

I purchased a SanDisk Extreme Pro 256GB UHS-I SD card back in 2019, and nearly six years later, it’s still going strong. While I’ve added newer SanDisk cards to my kit over the years, this original one is still with me today—and it’s earned its place.
In the past 5+ years, I’ve captured well over 500,000 photos on this card. It’s been exposed to Arctic conditions in Alaska and Norway, baked in the deserts of Egypt, and deployed with me in the Middle East. It’s traveled through the Amazon rainforest in Brazil, endured extreme humidity in Thailand, hundreds of airport X-ray exposures, and also handled the chaos of street photography during some high burst shoots in Japan and New York City.
I’ve hiked the Machu Picchu trails in Peru, and at one point, I even dropped my camera into a waterfall in Costa Rica. Through all of that—cold, heat, sand, moisture, humidity, vibration—this card has never failed me. Not once. Not a single corrupted file, error, or glitch.
I’m now approaching six years of continuous use, and the card still performs flawlessly. It works seamlessly across all my cameras: Nikon D850, Canon R5, Fujifilm X100V, and Sony A7R III.
I’ve been a SanDisk customer for six years, using cards ranging from 64GB to 256GB, and I’ve never had a single one fail. That level of reliability is priceless, especially when you’re shooting moments that can’t be recreated.
I’ll continue buying new cards—but this nearly six-year-old Extreme Pro still goes everywhere with me. And if it ever does fail, I’ll frame it and hang it on my wall as a reminder of just how much it’s seen.
