Doesn't work with Windows 10

Followed all the various methods of installing the drivers but none of them work with Windows 10. The video capture software is supplied on CD-ROM with no option of a download. Cheaper products worked out of the box with no drivers required.

We are sorry to hear that the adapter isn't working for you at this time. We have the latest drivers available for download on our website, on the product page under "Drivers/Downloads". Installing the TWAIN drivers allows you to use third party software instead of the included one which is only on the CD.

Proc amp (Contrast) needs to be adjusted

I am very happy with the SVID2USB232 and had no issues capturing analog video. One word of advice for new users; the default Contrast in the Proc amp settings is set too high at 32 and should be lowered to around 20 or the video will look washed out. This observation is based on my personal test captures using the device and confirmed by two YouTube reviews. Typically a new user would not be aware or adjust the Proc amp default settings and may determine that the capture device is faulty due to the resulting video produced. To address this issue, Startech should consider issuing a firmware update to correct the default settings. Other than that, its a great product

At last, a video frabe grabber that works!

After less fruitful experiences with cheaper products, at last this StarTech USB frame grabber works as advertised even with old VHS videos. I was surprised to see this product converting really old video tapes to digital, and the video editor is quite powerful too.
The only slight issue I had was that the CD with drivers did not install on Windows 10, but when I read the paper leaflet it pointed me to this page where I could download the Win 10 drivers successfully.
I can recommend this product if you want to convert your old VHS tapes to .webm files!

Driver doesn't work.

Same as most people. Driver cannot install and caan't get this to work.

Good product - Does the job.

Bought this on Amazon Australia last week.
Reviews weren"t very good, so I spoke with tech support and they assured me it would be fine - and it is! I'm using Windows 11 and recording from a VCR with component cables.
Downloaded drivers from Startech website, then got a software link from tech support.They then ran me through a few setting changes and everything works fine. Records as an MKV file. Windows Media Player didn't have Codecs for audio, so downloaded VLC Mediaplayer from Playstore and they play fine.
It's a good product and Tech support ( 2 Brandons ) were excellent!

I Got This To Work

I installed all the drivers included in the ZIP file, and on a working Windows 11 and a Windows 7 Professional, I can capture from my VCR and camcorder. I can also adjust the color and brightness. I also got this device to work with OBS open source broadcast on Windows 11 and Windows 7. It takes a bit of trial and error to get what you need. Most times, it is the permissions settings within the computer that need to be changed to get this to work.

Works, but poor quality out of the box

As others said, out of the box, the video output was extremely blown out. Adjusting the proc amp resolved this issue. For me, I found the best results with brightness at 75, contrast at 21, and saturation at 38. However, it does not handle low contrast frames very well. For example, a black background will appear grey, but black colors look normal when something brighter is on screen as well. This can have a jarring effect when, for example, a subject is moving around in front of a black background, causing the background to change color.
