Plate is great but remote isn't good

I've only had the unit for less than 2 weeks, and while the plate is working fine and I'm enjoying it, the remote has never worked well and I keep changing the batteries thinking that's the issue. Might work once with new batteries and then doesn't work again.

The product seems well built/sturdy. After using for 1 session on the lowest setting for 15 mins in a standing position, I ended up with lower back pain and felt the movement was somewhat jarring to the spine. I paused use for 2 days of recovery and then tried again for 5 mins on the lowest setting, this time while seated in a chair and knees bent to 90 degree angle. This position was much less stressful on the spine, but I did feel some stress on my knee and hip joints. Hopefully this is merely an adjustment period and it will get better (less painful) with time and practice.
