Drains batteries quickly

Functionally, this remote worked until I noticed the batteries completely drained after a few weeks. I went through this a few months with fresh batteries each time getting depleted. The remote isn't used frequently so there's something about it that is constantly drawing power.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
