So far works very well, but would be much better if (1) the plates could be removed for cleaning, and (2) it had an on / off switch (instead of just plugging in / unplugging to turn on on / off).

cuisinart has a good reputation. This product has some short comings. It works. There is no beep to let you know a. If it is heated and ready to use and b. No beep to let you know the waffle is done. The gauge to set the temperature is loose fitting and difficult to adjust. The top is loose fitting but closes okay.

Makes good waffles consistently. Fair price and over all well made. I bought this model because before buying this waffle maker I did not have one but I had borrowed one from my neighbor and this is the model that they have, so I got to try it before I bought it, so to speak. However, I am disapointed because the gray button on the front that you slight right or left to adjust the doneness level of the waffles on my waffle maker, unlike my neighbor's model, has no resistance to it at all, it feels like it is not connected to anything on the other end. I have no confidence that moving the grey plastic piece does anything to change the doneness level of my waffles and for that I give it only a three star rating, if it were not for that, it would be a 5 start waffle maker.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
