Bad design

When it rains, water accumulates between the beams which puts alot of weight on the canopy. If we don't remove the still water, the canopy will eventually rip so we are stuck removing the canopy every single time there is a risk of rain. Also removing the capony is a pain. Its ok for me because I'm 6" but my wife who is 5"1' is not tall enough to remove it.
The assembly instructions are very vague. It took me and my brother over 5hours to assemble because of badly identified parts and missing holes that we had to drill ourselves.
The pergola looks nice when its sunny, but it's a hassle otherwise.
I feel like we paid too much for this pergola, I don't recommend buying it.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Sturdy, looks good but needs good quality check.

It looks good on my deck. I am not a handy woman and had no problem understanding the instructions.
Wish I could give it five star because it looks just awesome and I am enjoying it a lot.
The reason I am taking one star off is, some pieces came defective. One of the top bars came with wrong screw hole and it didn’t match with the other part so I had to zip tie the parts together lol. Couple other parts to support the top canvas cover came defective so had to wrap duct tape around them to secure them with the bars that go in the canvas. (Wanted to attach pictures but don’t see any options here).
So yeah it was a bit frustrating. Probably if I had contacted customer service they might have sent me the replacement parts but I didn’t want to wait three more weeks for the parts to come with half pergola assembled. It feels pretty secured with zip tie on one part and couple duct tapes on other small parts.

I feel with this price tag, the company should have better quality check. There shouldn’t be a single defective part.
Initially I had issue with the delivery as well. It said order will be delivered in four days but when the date came nothing was delivered and the tracking notification changed to pending. Then I tried to contact the company. Amazingly the call went to costway not gymax and they did provide good customer service and answered my concerns.
Let’s see how it holds up in winter as we get lots of snow and fall gets pretty windy as well.
I would recommend this to a friend!
