I installed the 36" model in about 35 minutes (including removing the old one). I did need an extra pair of hands to hold it up. Very simple and the instructions were great. The only feedback for Hauslane is - it would be good to include a template including the electrical cord placement (my old cord hole was off). This hood looks elegant and works great. The lights have only 1 setting (I used to have 2), but the brightness level and color that matches my kitchen undercabinet lights (i.e., not bright white) are perfect. All the features that cost extra for this unit are well worth it.

Total Elimination of Cooking Odors

The cost to performance ratio on this hood is excellent. I have a log home with a small kitchen with very poor ventilation. The odors from what had been cooked lingered for days, especially meat and seafood. I purchased and installed the PS 18 under cabinet hood and vented it through the roof. It worked like a charm. Its really powerful-- sucks up the smoke and odors leaving no residual odors in the kitchen at all. Its really remarkable.

Great suction in a budget

I was trying to find an alternative for my over-the-range mircowave vent. I wanted good suction power in a budget. After doing some research, I came across Hauslane. US-PS18 model fit my bill because of the high CFM and rear exhaust adapter fit my cutout. High CFM is very important for me because my kitchen is close to the living room and I don't grease accumulating in my sofa and TV over the period of time.
I like the sleek modern design. It elevates the kitchen's appeal. Having six suction levels is great. I use it in level one or two most of the time. I use level 6 only when I deep fry in high heat.
Installation was also simple.
Overall, I would recommend this product.

The installation and design were easy once I followed the exact steps. However, there is an engine noise, which we noticed before we did the installation, I would recommend anyone who checks and runs the machine before installation to avoid all the hassles.
