Great Device and Service

I have owned this device about a month. It works well standalone. But texting more detailed messages is easier via the app via your phone. I travel, hike, and bike solo very often. And in areas without cell service. The In-Reach 2 provides peace of mind to myself, friends and family when I am on my adventures.
The subscription service is reasonably priced as well. I like I can change my plan as my needs change without any penalty.

Deep in the national forrest with no cell service can pose some doubt. Having the Garmin Mini 2 with me gives me that confidence that if I need help it’s there. Also reassuring is that my wife and family can keep an eye on me as well. Being able to text back and fourth with them allows them to know I’m ok even though I’m hours and hours away from civilization. It’s also nice to have when flying as it provides a back up emergency sos if the need ever arises.

Traveling in motorbike, lots of time we don't have cellular signal, that's why is my first usage of inreach. Love it.

It’s worth every penny. I wish you could still do custom check in messages but it’s not a deal breaker.

Got this for safety and reassurance after a hike turned risky. Tried it out and was nothing but pleased. Notification sounds were loud enough but not so loud that they drive you crazy. Very pleased and have confidence that future adventures will be a little "safer" knowing that I can call for help if needed.

What’s your life worth?

I was tempted to use only the SOS feature on my iPhone, but for a number of reasons chose the InReach as my primary. I keep it on my person when climbing, hiking, adventure biking, backcountry skiing. Garmin’s reliability is key, and I’m saving up for a Montana and a Fenix, as well.

I bought the 3.5 oz Mini 2 to replace my older inReach Explorer, mainly to save some weight. Used it last week while hiking Colodado’s Front Range. Loved it! Text messages were sent fast.
