Connection issues and inconsistent readings
on June 3, 2023

I ended up returning mine out of frustration. I was having connection issues and it was hit or miss (no pun intended) on whether it would read my shot. Especially on chips. It made playing courses vs my kids extremely frustrating and my kids’ patience waned. Lastly, I was consistently hitting draws and hooks. I haven’t hit a draw or hook in my life. I’m a slicer! I confirmed it at the range the following day.

Thank you for your review and experience with the Approach R10. We would like to discuss this further over email. If you would please email us at product.support@garmin.com. Thanks Jenny
If you want a backyard or garage sim setup this is the way to go! I use it into a net and run it through an IPAD that is hooked to a TV. It certainly satisfies my golf addiction as a father of 3 young kids that cant get out enough. I use awesome golf for the driving ranges and swing stats and E6 for the simulator. Both lack accuracy in distance on the driver and 3 metal but its pretty dialed in from there down. Both of these apps require a membership, awesome golf is 350 lifetime and E6 is 300 for a year +/- but E6 has a demo version included. Be prepared to consider a drive of 250 an absolute bomb! I also would recommend you have 7 feet to the device and at least 8 ft to the net. I use RCT ProV1x balls but cant tell a difference really. It is a great product that use almost daily.

While it is not nearly as accurate as one of the more expensive launch monitors it is a great unit for the price. I feel it often gives me shorter shot distances than what I would actually get and also does not think my shank shots are as off line as they actually are. I have not had a chance to use it outside yet, so maybe that will make a difference. It's great to be able to setup and use it very quickly and easily.
It does an okay job of gauging distance and shot shape but there are times at the range where I watch the ball draw and the launch monitor shows a fade or vice versa. There are also moments were I hit the ball 200yds at least based on previous shots and range flags, but the launch monitor will show it going ~150yds. I'd say it is accurate 75-85% of the time but it always leaves me questioning whether it was right or wrong.
I'm glad I have it but I don't know if it was worth the price tag.
I might be setting it up wrong so I have less accuracy but it feels pretty straight forward.
Suits my needs at this stage of play. Easy to take to range. Positioning took some time (and an alignment stand and a small height riser) to make it catch my shots at the range. Would really like "slow mo" added to video capabilites.

I've used the R10 a few times now, hitting into a net, and I feel I'm getting accurate results. It's easy to set up, navigate the menus and options and even download the data.

I bought the Garmin R10 about a month ago. I set mine up for outdoors hitting into a net. Initially I thought the yardage was short. As I kept using it, the statistics captured allowed me to better understand how to tweak my swing to minimize pulls and pushes. Then my yardage went significantly higher, which seemed to translate onto the course. As other users have commented, there are times that the R10 goes to sleep even before I start my sessions. Although frustrating, the R10 eventually wakes up and I have always been able to record my driving range practice sessions. I believe the R10 has really improved my game and am glad that I purchased it.
