Challenging install is worth the excellent hood

A major improvement from the old OTR microwave. This hood does a great job of capturing and removing the steam and grease from cooking. The white color matches my kitchen and appliances, so looks sleek. My only caveat was that installation was very challenging. It's heavy, so you either need several people to hold and screw in place or a system to hold the hood up while screwing it in. I tried the instructed method with cabinet jacks, and found I could not get those under the center of gravity needed to balance the hood. In the end a stack of heavy boxes did the job. You need quite a long extension bit to reach the back screws and will likely be working by feel for those as you really can't see them, even with the range out of the way. Thankfully, it'll only need to be installed once.

Bought this last month and very happy with it. Great quality and performance. The instructions were very good except you're supposed to make a 1 inch hole for the power plug but that's about 1/8" too small. Since most older fans are hardwired, it would have been much easier to have a simple hardwire option accessible near the rear, not buried at the front. Also, the rear mounting holes definitely need to be moved to where you can see them.
Overall, satisfied with my purchase and would recommend.

I bought this as part of our kitchen update. We got new countertops, and have been changing appliances to black. The old exhaust fan was noisy. The Hauslane matches everything and looks really good. Love the extra fan speeds that allow less noise. The touch features are great. The installation was easy, and the instructions were easy to follow. The only problem we had is that the plug for the power cord is larger than the 1' hole that was in the instructions. We had to drop the unit and make the hole bigger. We scuffed the wall paint doing this, so will have to do a bit of touch up.
