It has every preset I need. The shape and color are more modern which is great since I leave it out on my counter. Rice turns out mostly perfect but sometimes the middle is soggy even in only half pot full. This happens even immediately after completion shifting the rice around. Also the spatula is a bit short for use with a full pot of rice, your hand will touch the sides of the bowl it get very hot from steam.
Overall I’m very happy with it so just wish it had longer spatula and cooked rice as perfectly as people claim. Also I’d recommend instead of doing the max steel cut oats for 3 scoops, lower it to 2.5 and 3 water level. Otherwise it’s too dry. It’s more than good enough though and I will buy this brand in the future if this appliance lasts a long time.

I was so excited to get this machine that I used it TWICE on the first day. I made steel cut oats (the best I've ever had) and some jasmine rice with veggies and tofu. Both turned out delicious. Both were so easy to do. I love that I can just pour things in, turn it on, and walk away for an hour. Love love LOVE!

I've owned Zojirushi rice cookers for decades, and the quality has always been first-rate. I really like the matte black rectangular cooker I just bought. I miss the retractible cord, but otherwise the shape is great for storing and the back looks really nice and the matte finish resists finger prints. The rice cooker works great. The only suggestion I'd make is that I wish Zojirushi sold affordable replacement cooking pots for their rice cookers.

I owned another 5.5 cup rice cooker (form a brand you likely know) that was still under warranty for repair (it malfunctioned about 8 months into use, remaining at cooking temps on the “keep warm” setting), but opted to buy this one instead, and I’m VERY happy & pleased with my purchase—I was also surprised at how little the price difference was. Zojirushi products really ARE the gold standard, being solidly-built & feature-rich.
Even before cooking your first pot of rice, you can see & feel the difference in the quality of the machine. I didn’t read the user manual myself, but was chatting with Google Gemini about my new rice cooker, and it told me that it had a REHEAT feature, which is brilliant when it’s been on the “keep warm” setting and you want to freshen it up quickly to taste like just-cooked rice (9 min). You can select for different types of rice, TIMED cooking (same amount of water is fine), and it even has a SELF-CLEANING feature (which I haven’t used yet).
The standard cook time is 1 hour, which is literally DOUBLE the time of no-frills cookers, but what this gentle cooking process does is produce fluffy, chewy, glistening rice—in other words, PERFECTION. 🍚
I highly recommend this cooker—don’t bother with the “other” one. And my cooker also arrived a few days earlier than estimated (I’m in SoCal).

Sleek design. It really stands out on my kitchen counter. However it takes 50 minutes to cook 3 cups of Jasmine rice! Which is 10 minutes longer than 40 dollar rice cooker that I previously had. So when in a rush plan accordingly.

I was nervous about spending 200 on a rice cooker but this little kitchen implement is a game changer! My rice is consistent and delcious. Its not the fastest rice cooker I used but it doens't every burn the rice and cooks it consistently every time. The delay timer is great when I want rice ready as soon as I get home from work. Would highly recommend.
