HELP! My waffle iron is HAUNTED!!!

I have had this waffle iron for at least 7 years. Until recently it was a perfectly normal appliance. I do find it difficult to clean the base, and it will leak if I use oil or butter. I have a tiny kitchen, so I LOVE the slim profile when stored. The timer was handy for me... until it was inhabited by some paranormal force. 1½ weeks ago I was making waffles, and I realized that as soon as the iron warned up the timer was rapidly running through the countdown, numbers rushing by in fractions of a second. I want worried, and assumed it was just that the iron is older and the timer was giving up the ghost. That was until I unplugged it. The timer didn't stop. I watched as even without power it inexplicably kept running through it's ever repeating frantic countdown. I shrugged it off, and assumed it was residual power, and put it away. But as the days have passed it never stopped. Instead of giving up the ghost, I believe it took one in. Or possibly is it a sign from the beyond, a sign of the end times. I am starting to worry about what may happen when it stops. However, the waffles didn't taste paranormal, and so I will make myself some more today. I am taking a risk. I could be inviting a poltergeist to breakfast by using it. On the other hand it's just as likely that the spirits would turn against me if left unused in a dark cupboard. I am going to hope that whatever otherworldly forces involved will see it as a sign of respect for me to use the waffle iron. Especially because I am craving waffles with fresh strawberries. Wish me luck.

I’ve seen rave reviews for this waffle maker online for quite some time. Now that I’m really into sourdough everything I wanted a good waffle maker to do it justice. This one is fabulous! Heats quickly, cooks perfectly, easy to clean. Every single time.

Very nice waffle maker but timer doesn't always work, so I just use the kitchen timer on my microwave when I'm making waffles. I've made several waffles and I use no oil or cooking spray on the waffle iron. Nothing has stuck yet. (I do have oil in the waffle batter.)

The waffles are surprisingly bigger than the last two brands I’ve had- which is great for a full breakfast. I make waffles 3-4 days a week and it holds up to my batter experiments with gluten free flours without sticking.
