[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought this trimmer in Fall ‘23 when my old gas trimmer kept stalling out. I’m amazed how quiet and lite this trimmer is to work with.
I would recommend this to a friend!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] 82 volt string trimmer is now my favorite tool no longer have to deal with tuning gas mixing slap battery in and go still a little on the heavy side.. other than that I don't have any complaints it's nice and long keeps a charge for a long time power is great..
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It is not easy to get the string to advance. The string breaks off frequently if it touches anything harder than a thick stick. Lightweight and easy to operate. It uses very little battery.
Pros: Convenient, Cost-Saver
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hello Mandolin. We are sorry to hear the problem you are experiencing with the Greenworks 40V- String Trimmer. We would like to make some suggestions to improve your experience with the tool. Trimmer line usually breaks because of line crowding. This occurs when the trimmer head is held too close to hard objects that can break the line such as brick, cement, rocks, or fencing. Keeping the line at full extension, and not crowding it, reduces line breakage problems. We suggest cutting with the bare tip of the line because this is the section which moves at the highest speed. Do not let it hit into grass. Ease the line into vegetation, bit by bit from the edge. Line can also get wrapped around thick vegetation and become tangled, breaking the line. Listen to the sound of the machine and when the line slows down; back off out of the grass. We hope these suggestions help. If you still have questions or an unresolved issue after going through this troubleshooting guide, or just want to speak to a Greenworks product expert, please start a Live Chat on Greenworks Tools website or contact us by phone at 1-888-909-6757. We are here to help.

I do like the power they have but I do not like how fast the battery goes and both of mine the trimmer ends came of I don't know it they just didn't make them tight enough or what but that was very disappointing

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Loading new line is difficult. It threads through the trimmer head fine, but using Greenworks precut .095 line, it is impossible to turn the loading knob after more than half the line is inserted. I purchased tool because I thought it was self/easy loading. Look at other brands first.
Pros: Environmentally Safe, Effective, Powerful

Hello JohnJackRalph.
We are sorry to hear of the diffuclties you are experiencing, we see that you have spoken to a Greenworks product expert and we are happy they were able to assist. We have shared with you the winding process as well as a Youtube video in the hopes it helps you better. This product features our Load n' Go trimmer head. Any products featuring this head do not have replacement prewound spool as they are designed for quick reloads in seconds! Unit uses 0.095 inches line.
To Replace the excess line: Push the tabs on the sides of the trimmer head at the same time. 2. Pull and remove the spool cover. 3. Remove any remaining line. 4. Clean dirt and debris from all parts. Replace spool if it is worn or damaged. 5. Align the spool tabs with the tab openings in the base of the spool. 6. Push the spool cover until it clicks into position.
Installing the cutting line: *Do not put more than 15 feet of cutting line in at a time. 1. Remove the remaining cutting line on the spool. 2. Line up the slots on the spool cap with the slots on the trimmer head. 3. Put the cutting line through the hole. Push the cutting line until it exits the opposite hole. 4. Pull the cutting line through until there is an equal quantity of cutting line on each side. 5. Turn the spool cap clockwise to wind the cutting line into the trimmer head. Keep approximately 5 in of cutting line above out of each side of the trimmer head. With our Load n' Go trimmer heads, you can purchase spool line at your local hardware supplier and rewind the line. Here's a video on how to replace the line and rewind the line. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2eiGIXXzx2w Thank you for taking the time to contact us. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Good machine when it comes to the power, battery life and the convenience of using different attachments. The only issue I have with it is the trimmer spool. It is not releasing the line correctly and needs to be manually adjusted.
Pros: Quiet, Environmentally Safe, Powerful
